Title: How to verify downloaded wallet signature ?
Post by: OmegaStarScream on August 28, 2015, 11:06:48 AM
Someone suggested me to add this on my thread right here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1152619.msg12161270#msg12161270
but I don't really know how to exactly check the downloads if they are legit or not , I most of the time just download with no questions asked (I know , not the best way) .
I know that there is that ASC file but not sure what I'am supposed to do with that .
So if anyone could tell me how , I prefer fully explained with details post so I link it to my [EDU] topic directly .

ASC file contains the PGP signature. You have to fetch PGP key of the developer who signs it, signature and app. Then, you can verify app using a PGP software!

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1094700.0.

Edit: https://www.torproject.org/docs/verifying-signatures.html.en explains it clearly.
