Title: [2015-09-11] CD - Think Tank: Scotland Should Create its Own Digital Currency
Post by: tyz on September 11, 2015, 07:22:58 PM
Scotland should create its own digital currency, named ‘ScotPound’, an independent economic think tank has advised. The New Economics Foundation has produced a report that suggests introducing such a currency would have numerous social and economic benefits.

Guess if England can have all their different coins then Scotland could also have theirs.

Not sure why they don't just adopt bitcoin, guess they want full control over their created digital currency and they cannot get that with bitcoin.

Payments would be made via text message or a mobile app, but a voice recognition system would be created for those unable or unwilling to use the technology, to ensure inclusion.

I can already foresee problems with this voice recognition system. Not sure how good the security on that is but not so sure I would trust it.

Didn't work out so well for Iceland or canada. I don't know how these geniuses miss the importance of decentralization every time?

Do you mean Auroracoin? It was not an official crypto coin of Iceland. I think, an official fully decentralized and authorized crypto coin would have more success.

Would the authorities be interested in creating a truly decentralized currency?
If yes, them they might as well adopt one of the existing ones.  :)
