Note that BitInstant (https://www.bitinstant.com) just launched an Online Bank Transfer method which works in a couple dozen countries including Mexico, Canada, and much of Europe. I would like to find a solution for you if not. Not since September 25, but luckily I don't desperately need to exchange any more bankster paper for BTC right now. Hopefully Mt Gox or other reputable exchange will reactivate a commission-free UK portal in the near future anyway, or there'll be another option that doesn't rely on a cosy-in with the banksters.
