The s-7's may ship this week

https://www.bitmaintech.com/product.htm

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150827084021471OHYdwd9D06A0

Batch one scheduled shipping date is in late September of 21~30. If shipping out 10 days later than the scheduled one, it won't be considered as delay.

If they ship on time people will get them around sept 22 to oct3.

Many have been sold  this diff period has got to be very interesting.  Maybe a bit 6 to 8%.

A suggestion is wait  to see if these ship on time then place your guess.

My orders for 2 were placed the first day and I have no shipping info as of today.

@torepia

when you pick  you can pick a range  like 0.01 to 0.25  look at this set of picks from last adjustment.

so when it starts in about 2 days or block 300 made or block 1716 on count down   pick a set of numbers from above that not one other person picked.

that will be your set.

Note no  picks are made yet so all numbers can be picked.

my pick is always -1.01% to -1.25%   it is a long story but any other set   is good to pick.

I really hope the "(+2.90%) for now" is close to get back to the 2 percent norm would be nice.  I'm still not sure though I think there are still a lot of S7's to be made.  Hashnest specifically I think would be a batch itself.

There is also the issue/fact that S7 Batch 1 will start onlining during this period. I hope the difficulty back down a bit, but i'm not sure of the effect on difficulty all the elements like miners dropping off because of diff increase, miners coming on because of outdoor temperature finally dropping and new miners being put online will have.

I'm not sure how many S7 will come online and i don't really feel like digging through Bitmain's TXIDs to figure it out, but i'm betting we'll be fairly close to 5% this period once again.

I think that's wishful thinking, I feel another >5% shift this round, but we shall see.  A lot is dependent on the S7s getting out, as has been stated.  Let the fun begin!

I think there will be a batch made for hashnest that has not been made yet on S7's.  So I am being wishful.  Likely we will see another greater then what our norm was.

I really want to be wrong though.

Technically could start it but will wait for the official start beacon ^^ Exactly 300 blocks now.

This round will be interesting as it is possible to call high and be left hanging out to dry, or end low if the shipping is a bit later than usual or people have difficulty with setup, should be fun to see peoples picks this time.

The S7 is powerful, loud, and Hot.

The Gecko sticks are cool, silent, and SEXY. The blinking lights are the "Cats Meow"!   :)

Sept 17    143

Sept 18    147   So very close to 1%

Sept 19    127   and as of now we are negative for the real  time number.  - 15 blocks  which is close to -4% !!!

Sept 20    124   so we are   - 35 blocks  as of last night.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty  (-1.33%)

Bitcoin Difficulty:   59,335,351,234
Estimated Next Difficulty:   58,548,863,391 (-1.33%)
Adjust time:   After 1493 Blocks, About 11.0 days

we have made 523 blocks  ..  2016 - 1493 = 523

we should be at 558

so real time number is 523/558 = 0.9372 - 1 = -0.0627 which in percent is -6.27%

These should be low as the guess is the s-7's are off bitmaintech's mines and getting shipped.

maybe the up tick starts in 5 days. As gear starts going on line.  Mine should be here on fri the 25th of sept.

I could see the rates moving up over the weekend.

This is going to be a very active difficulty period, I bet we see swings that have a higher total range than any we've seen in a long time.

I can't imagine staying negative too long...

I think there is a good chance this means S7's hit the mail.   So chances are we can see this come back online after a bit.

Bad thing is then chances are that means they have some empty slots at data center which we can see a decent amount more of S7's go back online.  But i hope I'm wrong and it really did go negative.  But I think S7 is linked to this.

1447 blocks left   so   2016 - 1447 = 569 blocks made   so in 3 days we will be at 1000 blocks and picks will stop.

that 569 made means we should be at 618 since we are 49 blocks off 'norm' pace.

569/618 = 0.9207  - 1 =    -0.7928 which is  (-7.928%)    this will  reverse direction once the s-7's get sent out and setup .  Mine are due this Wednesday I am hoping for  the negs to keep dropping just a bit longer maybe to fri. then start climbing back.

It would be very nice to have 1 neg adjustment here.  even if it is just -0.02%

I think we can count on it going out of negative pretty quickly.  It is amazing though to see negative at all during this period.  I think it's safe to assume when the S7's hit peoples homes we will jump up again. How much not sure guess that's why they call it speculation :).

I really want to have closer to 2 then 5 this period, but not sure if my wishes will matter.

It appears bitwisdom is going up slowly I think soon a lot will receive S7's and we will see a jump as they are plugged in.  I think this should happen anytime.

I do find it interesting bitmain already put more online.   I wonder if these are batch 2 or hashnest, or even a big buyer.   I wish BTC was more transparent.

As much as this post will.

I think we're about done seeing miners turned off, they should be coming back online in the next couple days and the numbers will start climbing again.

I'll take +1.76% to +2.00%

I think we safely ignore the $400 21Inc Juggernaut until around Thanksgiving (US Holiday in late November). Of course we don't know what 21Inc is actually in terms of deploying miners within it's own walls. Probably something a lot more substantial than what they are sell for Pre-Order now.

Bitwisdom night:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    59,335,351,234
Estimated Next Difficulty:    58,467,573,146 (-1.46%)
Adjust time:    After 1295 Blocks, About 9.4 days

Appears a lot of S7 shipping notices in S7 thread.  We should see them going online pretty soon from end users.

Sept 17    143

Sept 18    147   So very close to 1%

Sept 19    127   and as of now we are negative for the real  time number.  - 15 blocks  which is close to -4% !!!

Sept 20    124   so we are   - 35 blocks  as of last night.

Sept 21    162  and that is plus 18  so we are at -17 as of 10pm east cost time.

we have made 724 blocks  should be 741  so  724/741 = 0.97705 - 1 = (-2.294%)

but a second 162 day and we will zero .

Now  my belief is bitmain will not do much more then this.  we shall see.

that is 74 blocks made   in 11hrs 10 min  67 is norm

so far we have  made 784 blocks 1232 blocks to go.

by tonight we may be at   -1 to 0%

In case folks haven't seen it, Spondoolies has decided to return fire at Bitmain, with their 100+ TH SP50 monster. Looks to me like the ASIC arms race will resume. No date or price yet on shipment, so I think this adjustment will not reflect any SP50's. Eventually they will show up and push difficulty to new heights.

well there is some hope with these in that no one knows when they drop.

maybe next week.
maybe next month.
maybe nov.
maybe dec.

an awful lot of money riding on one controller.

I would prefer an Intel nuc as the controller

Beside, i doubt that the first batch included thousands and thousands of S7s. By that i mean 1000 S7 is still only 5PH/s, so its not even 1% raise.

It might have been only hashnest that received 1k unit and there were a few more thousands units sold and shipped but that sound a bit of a feat in 10 days, so i'm guessing it would not be something like 5% raise just from Batch 1 S7.

Did someone work out how many S7 orders they took by following the blocktrail?

The big thing I wonder is how many they will have internally.   It seems like with their own mines and hashnest it would be quite a few.

Some day I would expect they upgrade S2's to something.  But I think they are still profitable at the low prices chances are that they pay.

In terms of hashnest and other internal Bitmain mining facilities, I expect those folks received their S7 boxes in the last couple of months. Wherever they were selling used S5's from, had already received an S7 replacement.

Probably not, it's highly likely Bitmain will ramp up production and drop the price sharply on S7. I speculate on this because other companies now came up with a retort for the S7 and i'm afraid Bitmain is going to have to beat them in quantity over quality with a S7+ or such.

Basically Spoondoolies is comming out with a 0.15W/GH, bitfury something even lower. So i'm not sure when they will be available by the unit or if at all but they are obtainable as bulk, so you will probably be seeing resellers sell those to home-ish/small miner operations relatively shortly after their release.

Basically what i'm saying is, we're looking at another hardware war and i don't think this could equate to a low difficulty increase in any way.

No, I am just saying that Bitmain has been enjoying reduced energy costs as they phased in S7's over the last couple of months. The S7, and all the other new gear are going to push difficulty plenty hard. In terms of percentages, it probably won't be as bad as 2013-2014, only because the hashrate and difficulty are so high already . I wonder if the ASIC vendors are thinking the market could cool considerably as the halving approaches next year. Best to make them $$$$ now, while the selling is good.

I think we can quit worrying about a difficulty decrease for a while. It was keeping awake at night....  :) :)

I think bitmain would have been pretty easy to use them internally.  I still think they kept S5+ design as they could easily do internal S7+'s.  They can use 3 S7's and one controller.

I still am not sure we are done with the 5 percent increases.  I think batch 2 or internal S7's will do a decent spike yet.  And when ever SP50 becomes something shipped out... that will sting chances are on difficulty raise.

Sept 23    155 plus 11   brings us to    -20

Sept 24    137 minus 7  brings us to  -27  as of 10 pm last night

Sept 25.    167 plus 23 brings us to -4 as of 10 pm Friday

Sept 26     152 plus 8     brings us to plus 4 as of 10 pm sat

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty is at (+2.31%)

we made 1340 blocks and have 676  left.

This is about 4.5 days. .

that 2.31 is off real time number  of 1340 vs 1336 = +0.299%

for us to reach 2.31%  is possible if we do the   next  4 days over 150 average.

To not get the 5 percent would be nice. I'm would like a change under 2 again, but I dont think that will happen.

At least hopefully not another +5 week... hopefully

We have grown to the point +25 most likely will never happen again.  If some how all the companies came up with a new NM at once and pumped out a ton..... guess there is a way it could happen but it wont.

I think 5 is seen as a big jump now.   The day's we got 15-25's we also were having 3 month ROI in many cases.  Roi is longer and percent rising is slower aswell.

The 504 block is still at 440~ PH after a few days and with 4.2 days left, we're still looking at quite a bit higher than 2.6%~

With the long ROI, I guess the big winners in North America are the electric companies lol.

so far we did 118 today in 19 hours which is a 149 block day or just about 3.5% this pace will move us from   0.3% to 2.3%

This is about 2.5 days. .

that 1.79%  is off  the real time number  of 1632 blocks made vs 1632 = +0.000%

So how can this be?

well no one is build much gear at the moment or variance or  bitmaintech turned the gear off dropping the rates as much as 5%

and most of the gear has now arrived  bringing us back to 0.

this is a strong indication that no one else
bitfury
knc
avalon
21
the a2 chip builder
sfards is adding a shit ton of gear this jump.

As always time will tell and we could burn those 384 blocks up in  days flat = big jump.

Kind of fun to guess though.

I like it better then the previous weeks.  I am hoping we can get a few weeks of 2-3.  But that is kinda a wish I think that will be hit and miss depending on batches of S7 in near future.

In far future I have no idea what SP50's will do to it once they start pumping those out.

Its Monday fairly globally now so shipping will resume. We'll possible see a preview of whats to come, with what the remainder of Batch 1 S7 will do to the difficulty.

Meanwhile we can hope the manufacturing power of SP50 won't be world shattering, if the difficulty only increase at a small pace, the BTC price might keep up and only miners that were already mining very tight on the margin will be offlined, but allowed to smoothly fade out.

Price had a nice weekend, picked up almost $10.  Currently closing in on $240, if price can keep climbing and diff stays flat this will be a good adjustment period.  But the tidal wave is coming, I can feel all those S7s getting unboxed out there...

The last 24 hours has been good on price no doubt about it.  I hope it continues but I am happy with slow and no big drops.

I think a decent amount of them have hit their homes at this point on S7's.  I do wonder how long till they make another batch.  I still think a internal use for something such as hashnest or a data center upgrading from A1's (or other old gear) could add to our hash rate fast.   I wonder if no batch open for sale as sales mentioned before, or if they are truly just out of inventory.

1 block every 10 mins is 6 blocks an hour is 144 a day, so start at midnight being 0 blocks for the day and depending what time of day it is you can easily figure out how many blocks "should have been" solved already.  At least I'm guessing that's how he does it.

This may be a horribly stupid question but how do you get the 144 number that it should have been?   It seems like it would change which each difficulty change.  I'm not clicking on how you get the "should be" number.

And thank you for taking time to help me understand it,  I'm just wanting to be able to calculate it myself.

For 24 hours @Mikestang gave the calculation. 10 minutes is average of the block time between blocks.

Quote
so far today in 22 hours and 20 min which should be 134 blocks
we made 376576 - 376445 =  132 blocks   not that bad

Check the date of block 376445; it's 2015-09-28 00:03:37 (First block of the day)
https://blockchain.info/block/00000000000000000c91485e60e4bbf4143c7993c7d53c6e36493dde7b1b99ca

Check the date of block 376576; it's 2015-09-28 22:19:20 (Last block at the given time)
https://blockchain.info/block/00000000000000000b304a89e75f6174f2aeb551fee3338416f020e6fff9e096

Approximately 22 hours and 20 minutes passed between those blocks.

Now; Multiply the hours by 6 and divide the minutes by 10 then calculate the sum: 22*6 + 20/10 = 134 blocks should be found. (That's average, proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto)

But; Check the block count by calculating the difference between block heights: 376576 - 376445 =  132

That shows 2 blocks away from the average.

Night bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    59,335,351,234
Estimated Next Difficulty:    60,443,097,899 (+1.87%)
Adjust time:    After 379 Blocks, About 2.5 days
Hashrate(?):    438,139,628 GH/s

So I really like that if we could get under 2 that would be amazing.  But likely there are still enough batch 1 S7's being delivered we likely will be over 2.

Price around 238.  It teased us and got under a dollar away from 240 but never did get to it.

*6 blocks an hour x 24 hours a day is 144...

The expected blocks solved per day is irrespective of difficulty, it's what you would expect if a block was solved every 10 minutes exactly.

and cakir explained the other part already.  :)

At least they put it to good use. But I think their diff estimate is even worse than BitcoinWisdom's:

Unless they know something we don't, e.g. how many S7++ they are going to deploy today and tomorrow LOL

I would agree chances of S7's in mail and making this jump is slim chance.  I do think we will see a jump from orders on S7's just not to that extent.

Sadly BTC around 238 never did hit over 240 last night, which I was hoping for.

If I am reading things right, we might also get a brief respite for the 1st half of the next adjustment. Supposedly Bitmain will be on holiday Oct 1 through Oct 8th. While I expect stuff that is shipped will arrive, there should be a 1 week hiatus on S7 production. I have to beleive that will manifest itself in some positive way (e.g. smaller difficulty increase).

Sound more likely to me that the S7 production is outsourced and they already have 2 whole batches on the way. During the next 2 weeks its Batch 1 that will hit doors, then after that it will be Batch 2 and 3. I don't see much respite here.

The Batch 1 already being in the mail won't pause for a holiday =/

Difficulty is still not looking to bad on bitwisdom:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    59,335,351,234
Estimated Next Difficulty:    60,756,105,068 (+2.39%)
Adjust time:    After 223 Blocks, About 1.5 days
Hashrate(?):    452,368,788 GH/s

So appear not a lot of S7 plugged in like I was afraid of.  Maybe we have till batch 2 and 3 before another 5 jump hopefully.

Price is hanging around 237.  So not bad, hopefully we have a nice slow increase.

http://btc.blockr.io/charts

Sept 17    143

Sept 18    147   So very close to 1%

Sept 19    127   and as of now we are negative for the real  time number.  - 15 blocks  which is close to -4% !!!

Sept 20    124   so we are   - 35 blocks  as of last night.

Sept 21    130  so  we are -49

Sept 22    162  and that is plus 18  so we are at -31

Sept 23    155 plus 11   brings us to    -20

Sept 24    137 minus 7  brings us to  -27  as of 10 pm last night

Sept 25.    167 plus 23 brings us to -4 as of 10 pm Friday

Sept 26     152 plus 8     brings us to plus 4 as of 10 pm sat

Sept 27     144 even     we are plus 4 blocks as of 1130 pm sun

Sept 28      140 -4         and how about that a big fat 0 - or +

Sept 29      170  + 26 blocks  so we are now + 26 blocks

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty is at (+2.07%)

we made 1802 blocks and have 214  left.

This is about 1.4 days. .

that 2.07%   is off  by 0.60% as  the real time number  of 1802 blocks made vs  1776 = +1.464%

So with the weekend over and a ton of s-7's turning up  we have had a 1.46% jump in 1 day.  so if we wail away and have a second 170 block day we could push 3% this jump.

Looks like Bitmain purchased BTC.com from ole homero lol..

Spooky...

At least they put it to good use. But I think their diff estimate is even worse than BitcoinWisdom's:

https://chain.btc.com/en/stats/diff

Quote
(+4.90%) 62.24 G

Unless they know something we don't, e.g. how many S7++ they are going to deploy today and tomorrow LOL

we have fixed the bug(using latest 2016 blocks instead of 1008). Now it's looks ok: 2.39% - 60.75G. And just now the new diff come out: 60.81G.

Congrats for the prize, we got a pretty acceptable difficulty raise. And now let the S7 waves kicks in. The next difficulty raise may very well look a bit more "interesting". About all first 3 batches of S7s should hit/start hitting soon enough to see what they can do to the difficulty for real.

Congratz it's nice to see a difficulty less then 5.   So I consider this a win.

We will have to wait and see I really hop once batch 2-3 on S7 ship we don't see 5's again.

I actually think we will get a near steady diff this next two weeks as bitmain and rest of china on holidays till 9th.. Assuming they get everything shipped by the 14 th .. it looks like unless the other asic manu. start putting more online then it may slack a bit.. Well at least i hope so anyway.. Congrats edonkey on getting it right this round.. Ill try to put mine in for next thread soon as it comes.. Seems they get filled in quick with the slots i like:)

Plot twist - there is no reward payout this time because edonkey decided to let the reward roll over.

In other words, the next reward is going to be 0.2 BTC: 0.1 BTC contributed by edonkey, plus the regular 0.1 BTC.

Congratulations again to the winner and big thanks for spicing up the game and of course you get this:

I think Bitmain should already have all of their S7s deployed, right?  So I expect the next diff jumps to include all of the S7s that have been shipped out around the world.  I though we'd see a big jump this time, but we took a negative dive right at the beginning, then climbed back to +2.5%.  If we didn't start this adjustment negative then the + adjustment would have been much greater, but still not much more than 5%.  Of course 5% adjustment today is a much larger number than a 5% adjustment a year ago.  I've been mining only a couple months but the diff has grown 50% in the time I've been active, ~40G to 60G today, wow!

Congrats to edonkey and thanks for the rollover. Yes I think we were lucky this time round. We might also be lucky on the next one because of the Holiday delaying shipments? However.. if we are lucky on the next one, the one after that is going to be a bigggeee.  :)

There's still people complaining that Batch 1 didn't ship out for them yet, while they already paid for it. Meanwhile there's batch 2 and 3 for less price than they paid and they didnt even ship them out yet.

Sound to me like there's going to be a lot of complaining for a while.

TLDR: The full scope of Batch 1/2/3 is yet to be seen. But i'm sure we could extrapolate by stalking Bitmain's btc address and transaction trail.

I have a feeling some will be issued coupons.   Don't know if they will be worth the delay though.  But with the holiday it's pretty amazing some will have missed the 10 day window  after listed.

So i personally wonder if maybe they oversold the first batch compared to what they had made, or if they simply did not get them shipped out.  Either way I think we will see batch one shipped out before 2-3.  But still will be some not happy in batch 1 if they dont get something for delay.  And in past they have done coupons a lot.  On L1 that they completely decided not to do it was a refund of it + a little amount or a coupon I believe if I rember right.  Been a long time since L1 happenings.

For the L1 they refunded using the original USD price, which due to a drop in BTC exchange rate was a good deal. And they gave extra BTC if you took the refund as a coupon.

Something like that would be nice for the S7 B1 but there is no competition now so Bitmain might just throw their "10 days" excuse at us. If there was a compensation planned then yesterday (before the holiday) would have been a good time to announce it or at least assure that shipments will happen before the 10th.

Maybe they feel its redundant to always address customer's concerns with "Your concerns will be addressed." over and over and over again. I mean their communication isint really up to snuff when they use "Second hand S5" for their last S5 batch that was used hardware but not second hand at all.

But the 10 days iirc was from 21 to 30 sept? So every day now is one more officially "late" day.
