People,i really don't know when to stop in gambling and to earn more and more i never stop and eventually lose it all...So i always decide that i will not gamble and only earn bitcoins but the thing is i can't stop myself from making bets and gamble daily so i want to ask here is there any way or wallet that doesn't allow me to send my bitcoins for some days? so that i can forcefully not gamble or is there any way where my bitcoins will be secured for say x days means i can't withdraw in that period

but investing is risky too you can lose and win it's risky as gambling i think.
if you don't know when to stop just make 1 bet every day :p payout 1.1 and you bet 0.1 btc :3 you will get 0.01 btc every day :p

you could probably contact an escrow anf have them hold your funds for a set period of time as well

No, it's not possible to do that with any wallet, as far as I know it. Send you bitcoins to your friend bitcoiner that you trust, if you have one. Or do as the above user had suggested, make a deal with some trusted escrow guy and send your coins to him. You will need to do this for a longer period of time if you want it to be effective.

if you have a gambling problem with bitcoin, you can add to blacklist of the browser, all gambling site, and you can't access.
Send your bitcoin to a dice with investor, not is a good solution

I don't have a a gambling addiction, but to my understanding it is usually impulsive. Putting your money on a paper wallet or perhaps even n-of-m paper wallets in multiple locations should hopefully make it troublesome enough and help you get rid of the impulse.

i don't think coinbase, or blockchain wallets offer anything like this maybe contact a highly reputable escrow?

First of all If you really had a gambling problem especially gambling using bitcoin you shouldn't be here in gambling section it's can make you remember your problem to gamble and will make you to think use your unused bitcoin to grow them it's bad habit always think to double your money instantly by play gambling. I suggest you to stay away from every topic about gambling and start to forget it in certain period.

You will have to get help for your mind/addiction because regardles where that coin/money is you will find more money and deposit and of course end up losing that. Moneypot for 60 days and getting help within that time would be my first bet. Good luck its horrible.

Soon there will be an elegant native solution to this after bip 65 gets deployed (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/6351) which will enable you to send money to yourself in such a way that's not spendable until a certain time in the future. Right now the best you can probably do is create (and store) a transaction to yourself that is nLockTime'd  and throw away the original private key. Unless you're an experienced programmer, I'd strongly recommend against doing that though.


Anyway, if I was in your situation I'd probably just create a 2-out-of-3 paper wallet, send all your bitcoins to it, and give 2 out of the 3 pieces of paper to some friend or family you trust, and ask them to not return until some condition has passed.


Also, I'd advise someone with a gambling problem against using the locked investment in MP. If you have a gambling problem you should consider locking away all your funds, and MP (or any site like it) is far too risky to put all your money. And secondly the actual investment is volatile enough that it almost constitutes gambling itself (investor profits literally went from 0 to 50 to -10 and back to 47, all in a few months).

Send me your coins lol. You can cry for days and i wont send it to you untill we hit the time limit we agree. And its free. Or send it to an escrow and pay a small fee. You really have a problem. Been in this before. Gamble only small amounts.casinos are made to take peoples money

I think keeping those coins wouldn't help because you can just gamble it again if you got it back. I suggest is you should stop visiting websites that are related to gambling.

You can try gamblersanonymous.com, it's an organisation to help people with a gambling addiction quit.

You could block the website if that helps. Or invest in something so that it would be really tedious to withdraw. If you invest in something stable, you won't lose as much if you do lose.

After seeing the above suggestions , i agree that if you want your gambling addiction  temporarily removed then you can go with the above suggestion like put you bitcoins in moneypot.com and lock it for 60 days or use escrow for this service, but if you want the permanent solutions the you have to consult with some professionals who will help you in getting out of this addictions.

Why not invest it instead? Say, invest it into something in which terms are you cannot actually withdraw them in a certain amount of time? Like securities or such? Or why not look for some advisers out there that can help you to at least distance yourself from gambling? Addiction in gambling is a problem of many, and the only way I see to solve this is to distance yourself from big amounts of money which you can use to gamble. Keep those money in the possession of other reputable members/services in this community? That could probably be a solution, though your money will remain stagnant in there for a certain amount of time.

For me this is a good suggestion, to help curb your gambling addiction. You can also try to send your BTC to me and I will hold them for you upon an agreement that will be discussed. And I will help you out as well on putting on an investment.

Like other guys said, u can deposit the money to a BTC bank or investment etc. Or you can trade them, forget gamble dude.

Why don't you invest in yourself? Like spend the money you usually lose gambling on yourself going to a workshop or a dance class or lessons or something?  8)

There is no such a guy, the only one who can save you from this addiction is yourself, try to control your own mind from addiction. If there are some pro who will help you, this guy must be the one who playing until broke thats why he can stop it

This one is really funny but true even I would like too.Gambling is more bad addiction than drug you keep continue by hoping that once you recover or win big you will stop and you never do.Just keep away and find some hobby to keep yourself busy this may help you.

Altough a lot of good suggestions were made in this topic, and i agree with most of them, i think the best one would be this (there were a couple similar ones):


Gambling is an addiction... It's a desease... You need professional help, or at least a support group to help you...
There are professionals (psychotherapists, psychiatrists) that can help you, or you can join a self support group. You are not alone with this problem, and if you want out, i would suggest going to a professional or joining a group rather than blocking urls or sending your coins to a friend/escrow/investment...

Put your bitcoins on an encrypted Paper Wallet, put it in a safe or a locker, take it's key and give it to someone you trust, like a close family member and then tell them to not give you this keys for 2-3 months and that's it. Your bitcoins are safe because the Paper wallet is encrypted so only you can reveal it's private key and no one else and since it's safe in a locker and you don't have the key to it, you can't use the funds. Problem solved but if you really need help, meet a shrink and he will help you the right way.

Making a paper wallet yourself is free and it's being said that making an offline paper wallet is the most secure storage option available (there are some discussions about this topic)

Just read up on paper wallets... Chose a tool to generate one (for free, preferable on an offline PC), create a paper wallet, transfer all your funds to the paper wallet, you're done ;)

I like this option as i have never heard about it before. I am also like gambling freak who lost whatever i earn. Yesterday also i lost 5$ btc in betcloud slot games and around 30$ last week in roulete. I gonna check out the moneypot.

there is noone that can help you or any site that will other then yourself.
even if you contact escrow or you lock your moneypot investment or any other way as soon as you get it back you will gamble with it.
so best thing you can do is block gambling sites and stop visiting them.

- Do a scan of your PC, with a good antivirus/antispyware
- Then go here: https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org, and download the Zip
- Transfer the archive to an offline machine, if you don't have one then you can use an Air Gapped OS (For ex.Ubuntu Live CD)
- After going offline, extract the "bitaddress.org-master.zip" contents, and click on "bitaddress.org.html"
- Keep moving your mouse and you'll see an address and a key pair, you can use that one but it won't be encrypted.
- Click on Paper Wallets, Enter a number in address to generate, depending on how many paper wallets you need.
- Now tick BIP38 Encrypt? check box, the box after it will get active, enter your password there (Make sure to remember that passphrase or write it down somewhere safe, because if you forget it, there is no way to get your bitcoins back send to that address)
- Click generate and it will generate your addresses with encrypted keys. Print them and put them somewhere safe.
- You can send bitcoins to them using any other wallet, electrum, blockchain.info and those bitcoins will be safe there. And when you need to use them you'll have to decrypt the key using the passphrase and you can then import the key into a wallet and use your funds.

put aside an amount of bitcoin that you want to gamble and lose and i want to emphasis on the losing part, then invest that much in your favorite gambling site and gamble with that amount.
this way you will never lose more that you can afford.
and also you have to set some rules for your gamblings and always stick to them no matter what happens.

Try to find a another interesting thing to concentrate on and try to avoid some time using Bitcoin itself. So you may slowly forget gambling.

Investing is risky! Always remember that. I'd suggest to transfer your BTC to a trusted place, like to a wallet of a friend of yours or to a wallet of a family memeber.

Speaking from experience, It was very hard for me too.I used to stay all day at dice site and still whenever i went outside I couldn't stop myself from thinking about dice sites. Whenever i got free time, i would think of "strategies" to play on the evening. This went for so long, almost a year. I literally wasted all my free time that i got in 1 year thinking about "useless" dice sites and thinking about "useless" strategies. It felt like i was trapped, forever. But after one year it happened that i went in a vacation. A place with no internet access. And of course, no Bitcoins. Spent couple of weeks there. At first, I felt like it was hard to stop thinking about those dice sites but Believe me......

                 Your brain is an amazing thing, once you stop for some days, it eventually becomes easier and easier for you. After spending a week and a few more days and staying outside as much as possible it felt like i have got somewhat less addiction than before. I tried to keep myself busy the whole time. Because, "An empty mind is a devil's workshop." And if you think deep about this saying, its true, perhaps very true. By Involving myself in other activities I never got any time to think about dice sites. If you don't have anything to do, getting outside of the house and gathering with friends as much as possible will do. Always remember that it's hard to stop gambling addiction overnight but with "patience" and "self-control" you can really help yourself get out.

          You are the only one who can help yourself. And realizing that you have a gambling problem is the first step to solve the problem.

That's also my problem. I can't stop myself in gambling but that was before. Now , i'm not into gambling for more than a month. I'll just keep earning in sig campaign than taking risk in gambling.

If I were you, I would lend my btc to other people at poloniex. This way, you cannot have access to your funds and you can also earn a tiny amount of interest.

That's the real beauty of Gambling. I heard many people were unable to control themselves from gambling and found their life time bigger fortunes just after thinking of stopping gambling. Playing safely must be a thumb rule. So, playing for long time but at the time within risk take-able level is most important for success in Gambling.

Try to focus on your study , your family , your kids. If you're can't control yourself, how can you control your own family  ?
It will ruin your life and your family for sure !. Think and re-think before gamble....

Do what my friend is doing, he can't control himself during gambling, so when he wins big, I force him to cashout 90% to an address I create for him.
So then he can be safe.

Move all your bitcoins to a brand new address on your android phone and then reset blockchain that should take a few hours to update your new address therefore killing that itch to gamble.

It's not really much help finding a bitcoin wallet that stops you sending a certain amount per day etc. If you truly have a gambling problem you'll just go to a fiat bookies instead, you obviously need professional help, I suggest you try to find it because irresponsible gambling can ruin lives.

Depending on where you live there should be multiple avenues you can go down to get help, support groups etc, professional help. Google 'professional gambling addiction help'.

That's a most common and main problem in gambling, I think you should seek a trusted person (family or friend) who can keep your money for you, so you couldn't spent it in gambling.

i dont think people share their gambling thoughts with family ?
they look outright fools even if they do unless they are under 18
best way is to control yourself and learn to move on and let go things.

Always gamble all money away. But when winning im not sure until how much money i wanna win and stop betting.
Last time i won around 0.4 in betting and still betting.. at last in 2 hour all gone..

Don't worry .. few days ago i win around BTC5 next day i lose everything + further BTC5 .. it hurts ..

That's how ladyluck rolls. Your lucky you didn't lose another 5 BTC. I once lost 10mbtc then went on to lose a further 2 BTC because I went on tilt.

I have heard many sad stories about people having addictions and eventually lose all they have in their lives. Instead of telling him "don't worry", I think it is better for him to acknowledge the problem and get some helps before it is out of control.

You should:
1)Realize it's an addiction
2)Ask for help
3)Get help
4)Put you in a condition to don't gamble for ranged times.
5)With time you will handle it.

Do you really when any person got addicted to gambling habit than he can give up this easily, if someone connected to internet than he can't give up this because he will check his favorite for curiosity what is going there and than again will start .....

It is not easy, and that is exactly the reason why addicted gamblers need to get help. There are a lot of organizations offering free counseling and consultation services to addicted gamblers.

Thats a big problem, and you should consider it seriously.
Print out the amount of money that you have lost in gambling, and list items which you love and were able to do with that money. Put that paper in front of you.

i didn't meant to say it was easy, I meant those are the steps someone should take if he/she believes in what it's happening around them.

I lost 1 Bitcoin today and now my gambling problem is solved.I will not hold any Bitcoin in online wallet and will not play.Each time I keep some of my funds on blockchain I start playing on different casinos and in the end this happens.No money to play no more loss.

The best decision would be to create a multisig address and send your bitcoins to this address, after that, give one of the key(s) to your family member(s) and ask to keep it save from you until a certain time.

Instead of blocking websites the best option is sell all your crypto currencies or bitcoins and start spending more time on with your other interesting activities like outdoor activities until you feel you can control yourself do not go for buying bitcoins.

There is tons of gambling websites? I dont think you can block all of it. There must be some that you will miss it. It is better that finding more activities that doesnt required laptop or pc because it will attract your mind to get to the gambling site again

You should probably give all your bitcoins to a a valid trusted entity like your cold storage or hardware wallet .They will do the job if you lock your private keys in a treasure box and burry it deep in the jungles of Amazon .So when you feel like gambling I'm sure you'd not want to travel that much .

If you are a family man ask you other half to help you with your problem, if not, ask a family member to help you out, you can't just stop your gambling problem like a switch that you can turn on and off, you need support, not online support but moral support from your loved ones who cares for you.

Have someone with you when you gamble so someone will remind you to stop.
That person could be someone who don't gamble and you are kinda afraid of his/her actions if you don't follow.
When I was still in my teens I always go a video arcade in a mall with my girlfriend and she is the one who tells me when to go home and when to stop.

Go cold turkey and stop gambling.

If you don't know when to stop you're going to need serious help. At least you know you have a problem so you can do something about it.

This is great. How did u find out about this? Is it just for keeping or there is some little interest on that money? This is probably one of the best things that I seen recently. If I come in same situation I will definitely do this.
But for now I'm good, when ever I lose to much I transfer my thoughts on something else, some game that is interesting or I go out for a walking and hanging out with friends. Anything that can move mind from gambling.

I feel you man, i know that feel. i'm also gambling addict, when my parent transfer money i always lose it because gambling, and i promise myself to not gambling again. you need promise yourself to not play again.

Just replace this adrenaline rush addiction with other like skydiving :P

If I was you I will just seek for help that some one will talk to you to stop gambling. Or some one to be strict with you.

Blocking bitcoin for a few days won't help, because you will search other methods to gamble.

Just look for some one who can help you, maybe your friends, family or a docter.

I believe that if you just keep yourself occupied with other things in life, you will stop having the urge to gamble.

whether you gamble for a living? if yes. it was quite easy. you are just looking for something else to get the BTC, such as the signature campaign, trading or other. and if you get good results, I believe you will leave gambling. or better if you gamble just for fun.

You could potentially block all the websites you gamble on so it won't tempt you from gambling or depositing. You could also convert your BTC into another form of currency to keep it in your bank account. Third option that I'm not sure of, is to just a trustworthy member of the forum to hold your funds until all of this is sorted out. Gambling should just be for entertainment, not for making a salary or a steady income.

Well, you can withdraw all the money you have.And you can use some of the online services available for gambling addiction, they will give you simple lessons which will detach you from gambling.


But he would always have a solution to that, by switching off the VPS's .. so that wont work friend I think.Solution must be something which you feel helpless when want to gamble.
