Title: BTCJam
Post by: TheDarKnight on October 15, 2012, 09:08:42 PM
OK, so is this place a good idea or a bad idea? And has anyone got any firsthand experience of it?

It's a great site if you can get verified and make your regular paybacks on your loans. It's also pretty good to invest on I hear. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

I'm more into the investing side of it, it's best if you can get as many people as possible to invest in the one project, for safety reasons...but it seems to me that a lot of listings are being deleted due to the site admins deciding it's a shady deal?? I was more interested in the success record on that site, since it seems to be quite new... ???

Yeah I've just posted mine earlier today for borrowing money.
I made mine a meager amount, hopefully it'll be reasonable.

I was looking at this site this morning and was going to start a similiar topic. Thanks for saving me the trouble. Sounds like a great site for both investing and borrowing.

Been using since it started (only to loan, not borrow) and finding it pretty addictive. Frustrating when someone doesn't pay up, or tell you why, but balanced out by getting money back elsewhere ;)

It's an interesting project. I've invested some BTC at the moment, some with success (payment regular or in advance) but some not repayed ("only" the second day late for 3 payment of different people some with high credit rate ::)).

Overall is it worth the risk?

Not to be a total punk but I did create a loan at: https://btcjam.com/listings/208 (https://btcjam.com/listings/208) so I will keep everyone updated.

Depends on how risky you make your investments. At the start, this was trickier as there was little feedback and few lending options, but it's easier to choose as more people use it, and more feedback rolls in.

In theory ;)

How much BTC do you have to invest to start? Looks like a good and needed service, and possibly a place to earn a little income. (Like Sopranos- put your bitcoin on the street)

On my own experience, at the moment no, unless you can loan small amount that you don't care to lose.
I've 3 payments overdue on 6  (+1 that has to be paid today still not paid, but there is the time zone difference): at the moment the lost is way bigger than the incomes (even considering the 2 loans that are repayed in advance of weeks)

Ercolinux - what interest rate are you charging?

on BTCJam is the borrower that make a request with a rate. At the moment I don't lend any money anyway

Can someone take a look at my loan and tell me what I can do to make it a little more safe for people to invest?

First 55 BTC are not nuts, and you don't calculate increase in difficulty in your math
Second you've no verify (add credit rating, identity and address)

Well it's been like a week or some shit and I still didn't get any money yet.
It's also just like 1.3BTC just for college books.
