Title: We'll share 1000$ with you.
Post by: Troll Roger on September 23, 2015, 08:48:38 PM
Hey all.

Prominent captain of industry Roger Ver launched his own forum and we'd like to play a little game on him.

He announced that he'll be giving away 1000$ to the most active post. Help us win and we'll share 100% of the reward.

Instructions are simple. You can read Roger's terms here  (https://forum.bitcoin.com/announces/1-000-bitcoin-prize-for-the-most-appreciated-post-on-this-forum-t265.html)

Now for our plan:

1. Register an account in the forum
2. PM us your username and BTC address. Operation must be somewhat secretive so we won't accept suspicius users.
3. Funds will be sent to an escrower in case we win
4. After the end of the contest add bitcoin.com to your hosts file
5. In case of a win, escrower sends funds minus his fee to addresses

It's important to use an ad/script blocker while visiting Roger's website for your safety. He's known for abusing user data from services he opperated in the past.

There are a couple things that attracting my attention here.

1) He probably won't pay that prize bounty, but I'm not sure. If the forum booms, he might, but if the forum declines, he definitely won't.

2) Let's say you win the competition, and he actually pays out honestly. There is absolutely nothing withholding you from honestly sending out the payment. Even if you were completely honest and fair right now, when the time comes, you're human; you might decide to run with the funds.

You could fix number two by entering with a trusted escrow's bitcoin address... I guess.

3) That forum is stupid. Sorry.

They normally don't do much about it, they are basically the face of bitcoin and where most the negative attentions starts.
I'm pretty sure there has been a forum that even did a sig campaign.
Ultimately will all the scam and everything that go on here that they don't even ban for.
Normally peopled are banned for spamming, so as long as they don't post fuck BCT nothing is going to happen.

Interesting. I didn't realise there was a forum on there. He's a fella who likes to throw his money around so no doubt it's a legit offer. Got a ways to go until there are enough members for the offer to activate.

also, that theme looks like it's straight from the 90s. it's a horrible first impression for a premium forum

Yes, there is something about the looks of that forum that makes it not that good. Also after reading Op's explanation I am rather full of doubt that this will bring me anything. Honestly, there are no real guarantee that I will earn even $1. I will pass.

i'm glad I read this thread, The little I do know of him, he does throw away alot of money, I feel he could have used some to generate a better forum.

I have my own forum, but I dont spam it here, even tho I could, mainly because I have respect, I would not be known if not for this forum, I dont want to steal any users, but rather have mine as a backup.

I do believe he would pay up, but I cant spend that much time on an eye-sore site sorry.

4. After the end of the contest add bitcoin.com to your hosts file

That sure is original. Why exactly do I need to do that ? You planning to ? This must be some kind of prank.

He didn't mention what should be entered. Where should the traffic from that site be redirected, and for what reason?

We could try doing this... but there's really no guarantee that we'd get any part of the prize

Escrow was handled. It's all private but you can contact us to confirm.

It's so people will stop connecting to his website after the contest is over, for safety of course.

Though I don't know him much, from most of the articles that I've read that includes him, I think he's the type who'd actually deliver, especially in terms of money. It's just funny to think that he would throw money out to gain more members and users for his forum.

I'll pass.

I can not for the life of me stand the horrible layout on that site. There is no way I would post on that forum and Bitcointalk is a more established community. I liked the board layout here. I do not like web forums that use linear format.

There's no way that forum is going to beat Bitcointalk with a imaginary prize of $1000 to the so called thousands of sign ups by this date nonsense ive been scammed exactly like that before.

LOL big prize just for posting on forum is fishy, i bet this is will turn into scam.
AFAIK a contest/bounty which have an equal/more amount $1000 is only PD graphic design contest which have 5 BTC bounty prize, and they're paid.
