Title: [WTB] f*D Bar and Kialara cases/container/box/holder
Post by: Mitchell on September 24, 2015, 08:13:07 AM
Hey all,

I'm currently looking to buy a case/container/box/holder for my f*D bar and my Kialara's. Good ones are hard to find. I mean, I did found an amazing Lindner Nimbus 230 (http://www.lindner-original.de/de/sonstige-sammelgebiete/sammelsysteme/nimbus-objektrahmen/nimbus-230-schwarz.html), but they are quite pricey, mostly because of shipping. Example of how they look, courtesy of fvs114:

Does anyone know something like this or someway that I can display my f*D bar and Kialara's without exposing them to air.

These little leather style cases work quite well I've found - www.ebay.com/itm/121764923898.  Although they are not air-tight, luckily the Kialara is.

I have a couple spare cases in Red, Brown, & Black if you're interested.  :)

How do the f*D bars compare to the Kiarlara in terms of size??

If they are similar, it may be in our interest to get capsules made.

Considering the production numbers of the Kialara alone, this may be cost effective.

I may have a lead on a manufacturer for bar capsules.
Working to make similar to the small ones used for the silver UNO bars.

What was the cost on Linder case??

Thanks
The f*D bar is a lot bigger than the Kialara, as the f*D bar is 5'' and the Kialara is around 10.2cm (L) x 7.0cm (W). So you would have to add padding to make it fit in a capsule made for the f*D bar. The Lindneris 24,50 euro without shipping and can hold both, but not at the same time. There is a bigger Lindner case that can hold 3 Kialara's, but it also costs as lot more.

I have something like that (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leather-Name-Credit-B-Upright-Business-Card-Case-Holder-/130905928661) for my "show" Kialara. It's not bad, but I really want something air-tight and clear.

It looks like that company has an English based version for the US..

But Damn $30.00 plus $9.00 in shipping.

So for the Kialara, one could use a f*D capsule, but use a foam "ring" like ones I've seen holding Lealana, etc.  ??

oh.. what about the thickness of the Kialara?? they seem thicker??  ???
Something like a ring would probably do (as long as it isn't white, haha). The height of the Kialara is around 0.8cm and the f*D bar is around 0.45cm. This is measured with a very basic ruler though.

Oh yeah. should have linked that in the OP. But yes, like I said, pretty expensive and I haven't found anything like it, yet.

That Kialara looks mighty fine in that display frame 8).

Any idea what size it is?

Found some on Amazon when searching 'nimbus floating frame': http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=nimbus+floating+frame

If you had clicked on the link in the OP and the website would have told you what the size is (230 x 180 x 25 mm). :P

Seeing that Kialara in that case is making me want one for my desk ;D. Might start looking around for a silver or gold one if the price is right :).

I have a gold, but it ain't for sale. Still need to grab a 1BTC Silver.

So..
Is there any interest in getting capsules made for both Kialara and f*D bars??
For me it depends on the price with shipping, as you are in the USA and I'm in poor old EU.

Well, I would need a European distributor. So maybe there would be no price for them ;)
To keep the costs down, I would for sure need to send someone in Europe a bulk order.
Well, if I don't need to pay VAT, I don't mind receiving them and handling shipment and such (as long as it's been paid for). I'm used to that because of my group buys.

Definitely, I did see those cases when doing my research but didn't want to take the chance on the metallic bars scratching the housing of the Kialara.  I was thinking about machining a circle out of the fake leather to expose the Kialara coin & numbering but I haven't attempted it yet since my idea depended on melding the faux leather and a piece of plastic protector together which would prove difficult to reproduce without more tooling.  I have carried the Kialara around in the leather style case and it does a great job protecting the metal and glass and has not received one scratch.

The nimbus case looks awesome but I was off-put by the price only.  I am interested in the f*D bar cases as well.  ;)

Has anyone thought about Laminating a Kialara?  That is pretty close to what Nimbus is providing except it wouldn't have a frame.
