People are so funny, they search everywhere for these answers/purposes except right in front of their face.

Personally, I think Earth is the Universe's hell, a masochist centre for gaining new perspectives and tolerances.

Humans are mostly pieces of shit.

Always the optimist.

Life can have whatever purpose in life you perceive, but the most basic/standard purpose, in my opinion, is for our souls to learn through life experiences.

Life's basic purpose is to make more. It's just that simple. Anything else is icing.

What's the purpose of making more?

What's the purpose of making more?

The purpose of a lifeform is to make more copies of genes similar to those it carries itself. There is probably no ultimate "purpose" to doing that, it is just how it works out in the end due to physics/chemistry.

What is the purpose of the formation of ozone in earth's upper atmosphere? Or diamonds forming from carbon under high pressure conditions?

What is the purpose of 2+2=4?

The real purpose would be to increase conscious awareness.  If you're doing that, your soul is learning, growing, evolving.

Why do you say that's the purpose?

According to the Theory of Evolution, that's a tendency of life, but it doesn't say that it's the purpose of life, anymore than the Theory of Gravity says the purpose of life is to fall.

I guess I agree, assigning a purpose implicitly assumes some kind of planning ahead and is therefore most likely nonsense.

It's possible that strategy will work to continue replicating human-like genes, in the end natural selection will decide. Still assigning the word purpose to it is kind of silly.

Who says there is a purpose in the first place?

Who says there is a purpose in the first place?

The concept of purpose can only exist in the minds of men. And it does.

I see your point, and I'd have to say I agree. Life itself has no purpose but what you give it.

Most answers are correct, there is no inherent purpose of life in general.

However according to the videos above, what we humans set out to do on Earth
is to show the rest of Creation that while still being part of Creation it's possible
to create an illusion of disconnection to a degree that we're experiencing right now and then still find our way to reconnect with it. Not remembering who you really are after being born is part of that process.

In short we are not a low level kinder-garden compared to other civilizations as it may seem - we are earning our master's degree. We are the most brave and courageous souls in Creation that agreed to reach out to outermost regions of existence and participate in this journey. We are the Explorer Race.

PS: Also please note that science nowadays seems to converge on the new paradigm that consciousness is primary to everything else. What we previously thought of the objective material reality is in fact a product of our collective subconscious that we all share: (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119344.0)
