Title: Roger Ver's Bitcoin.com forum is up
Post by: tokeweed on September 30, 2015, 10:20:14 AM
https://forum.bitcoin.com/ just went up.  Besides Ver, who else are the people behind it?  Andresen and Hearn?

Unlikely.

He's doing a good thing IMO, it's true that XT was arguably censored (although it's slightly academic; whether it is/isn't/would've-been-in-the-future an altcoin is a whole debate in it's own right).

I'll be checking forum.bitcoin.com out I think, although probably not joining up right now.

I appreciate the standing Ver has in the bitcoin game & I've been aware of this forum being made for a while but I'm not interested. I'm happy here, this place has everything I need. It's difficult being active in more than one forum & my posts would probably be lower quality if I was splitting my time up with another place.

I'll only migrate to there if this place starts losing all the quality posters to Ver's place.

I think Roger Ver is the only public figure in that forum. I checked members list and messages, I didn't see any other Bitcoin dev. besides Charlie Shrem's AMA.

Oh - Thank God somebody finally started another forum.  Theymos is bullshit.  Theymos fucked Mastercoin royally by stuffing it into a bin chock full of garbage causing the community which was just forming to get too noisy.  What a dick.  Then, he destroyed BitcoinXT with censorship.  It is high time someone build an alternative.  Good for Roger Ver for taking up this task.  I encourage all of you to move to the decent forum which promises to avoid steering the community with censorship.

Old news. It is up for quite some time and most of the DT IDs are already booked.

Why the hell do we need several forums, I don't understand? Why are we dividing community in such ways?

You can use both forums but I don't think they get more users. It's not easy to compete with Bitcointalk.

Do you think he can destroy every other coin by locking up their threads in alternate cryptocurrencies section? Then it shows how weak they are. A promising coin is easily destroyed by a forum admin. LOL.

I don't see as a divide. We are all supporters of a decentralized technology. And in here on bitcointalk we are meeting at a centralized place. Why not have a few more forums? At least one more can be a good alternative to this one. In other fields out of crypto currencies I'm also registered and participate in more than just 1 forum. For me in personal there's nothing wrong about that.
But I believe the forum at bitcoin.com will have to show if it can grow and therefore stay sustainable. Not easy and can take quite some time. This forum here will still be the major one imo.

Thanks for the info. But we don't really need another forum until it has something innovative.Regardless the fact that they hired posters to post in their forum;take a look at the News and Discussion section.

Looks nice actually, kind of tired of censorship so let's hope there won't be any of that there.

Who is we? Maybe you don't need or want to share your opinions or participate in other places.
But many others might want to choose and make use of that possibility?!

It's looking a bit more promising than the last time I checked it but they've got quite the uphill struggle to get established. I find it pretty weird that people are questioning why there should be another forum. Plenty are looking for alternatives.

I like how Ver's forum has exactly the same sections as we have here on bitcointalk. Copy-Pasta for the win.
I guess it is a good thing that new bitcoin forum is up, but I don't think it will be successful when bitcointalk is around.

agreed.

Also on that forum censorship is way better than the other platforms. Another thing they dont have (yet) advertise campaigns and Roger always ask the community first. Here there are a lot of useless spam post because of the advertising campaigns - hopefully that place wont have as many as here.

Welcome on board bitcoin.com forum!

free-market gives us choice and competition is supposed to makes everyone try harder

I think people just cry censorship when something doesn't go their way. I mean this guy's forum might not "censor" (or move) XT discussion into another section but I bet he will gladly censor in other ways. Can I call him a twat on there? Can I post his personal details or call him a scammer? Will he censor trolls and scammers or just let them troll and scam away? Creating and running a forum is never easy as it seems and many people will complain whether you do something or you don't.

I'm staying right here. I prefer the comfy leather sofas in this forum and the 4 BTC prize for best post is probably rigged anyway.

https://forum.bitcoin.com/ just went up.

It's a nice looking forum. I will definitely visit there if there are nice topics. I think another bitcoin forum is good. We have more choice. Remember XT topics got moved to altcoin section? If that sort of censorship arises again, it's good to have another place for discussion.

I wish them luck since all of the other alternative forums are pretty dead.
