Bitcoin Under Attack: Coinkite Reports Malleability Attack & Urges Caution

Coinkite, a bitcoin platform that transacts more than 400,000 BTC per month, has reported a bitcoin malleability attack that requires users to be careful about zero confirmation receipts since there are two versions of a transaction (low S high S).

Zero confirmations has always been a bad move for a business model. I don't get how this is really "new" to anyone who has been operating in the Bitcoin ecosystem. The only desperate candidates for zero confirms seem to be gambling sites and some micro-transaction schemes, where the risk is rationalized.
