It's not just you, I'm seeing 1568 activity for everyone too. I'm not sure if I've actually been promoted to Hero Member yet, or it's just a glitch.

I see. I think trading and any transactions must be on hold for the mean time until this gets fix. There might be some people ready to take advantage of it. I also hope this gets fixed as soon as possible.

I just got a PM from a newbie with 1568 activity, and I even archived (https://archive.is/fEkzD) his profile to confirm the activity level.

From the looks of this thread, it appears that everyone has 1568 activity, myself included.

not everyone. theymos, satoshi, and admin account isn't affected.
It is possible that people who have created their account prior to a certain date are unaffected, and/or people whose accounts have certain security features that are not available to other accounts are unaffected.....this is of course speculation.

edit: I am apparently now a hero (proof (https://archive.is/cLxFI)). Congratulations QS

since admin accounts isnt affected by the activity glitch i think they are just doing some test here on the forum or adding/removing some feature?

i really hope this thing can get fixed asap as it might lead to more scam attempt specially for those who will just come online and wont notice these glitch before making a trade

My activity is now 0.

Title: Re: Activity Glitch. DO NOT TRUST ANY USERS BASED ON THEIR RANK!
Post by: theymos on October 05, 2015, 03:30:54 AM
I accidentally set everyone's activity to that value (and then later I set it to 0 so people don't keep getting promoted to Hero). The system is now going through and recalculating everyone's activity. It'll take a few hours. Incorrectly-promoted users will be demoted later. If you find yourself demoted to Brand New or Newbie, you'll just need to post a few times after your activity is fixed to get back to your previous rank.

On the plus side, I significantly improved the efficiency of the activity calculator which was previously sometimes locking up the whole forum for a few minutes.

Everyone except Legendary and above, it appears.

No, your activity was set, but then it was quickly recalculated because you (like all Legendaries) have a low user ID. The recalculation is being done low ID to high ID.

Actually Hero members will not get demoted (along with Legendary and Newbie members)

IIRC only Newbie, Hero, and Legendary members don't get demoted normally. Maybe I'll fix it at some point, but it's not really a big deal.

I would also appreciate it if I could get white-listed so I don't need to wait 6 minutes between posts :)

You can chase it via profiles. As of this post it was at about user 12,000.

You must have attempted to upload another avatar and your existing one got removed (or something similar).

There is at least one person (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=558684) who still has an avatar who should clearly not have not (based on current guidelines)

I don't care, but I already had 910 of activity since the beginning of October and ended down with 868. I wonder if this is related to the glitch.

I finally can have an avatar

He has posted many times with his avatar after the fix was implemented so maybe it is possible he is the only one still with one?

(proof (http://web.archive.org/web/20150910170615/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=77775)) <- 882 instead of 910. but that was from 10th september.

that or some of your posts were deleted recently. also note that you don't get a PM notification when one of your post get moved to the trashcan along with someone else's topic.

I know there are at least 4 of them. but there should be others that we missed.
I don't think those avatars are going to get removed. it's not like they're doing any harm with it.

I agree, it's not a problem that a handful of newbies have avatars, it makes their accounts unique and that's always a fun take-away from a buggy evening.
