Title: Private Feedback?
Post by: Vod on October 05, 2015, 10:10:22 AM
It would be nice if there could be a checkbox when leaving feedback to just leave it as private.

Just a private note that I can see but no one else can see.  Something that obviously does not affect their feedback or trust score.

A shared note system for moderators will most likely be implemented(and was already discussed with the Slickage team). But I don't know if this system will be extended for personal notes or regular users.

What is the purpose of leaving private feedback?
You can simply make a note and writing that you have dealt with this person at xx time and that's it.
The feedback itself is something that should be public and to let others if he is trusted or not, how was the deal gone etc.
It simply does not make sense at least to me, let's see others opinions.

Seems odd if you ask me.

I see the reasoning behind this suggestion; I would support this as well. Perhaps I had the impression that someone was farming trust, but had no real basis for the suspicion. Then I could simply write a note (visible only to me) on his profile for future reference. Same goes for if I thought someone was trustworthy, but I didn't want to put a positive trust rating because it was only a personal opinion and I didn't have any direct dealings with the person. It could even go to other small notes that I would want to write down for future reference, but wouldn't want other people to see/affect the person's trust rating.

It being private means that it's only visible to admins or Mods as well could see the note including the user himself or nobody else except the user can see it?

This reason sounds good but for users who have left a lot of ratings, they would find it tough to scroll through those ratings to find this private rating. It would need users to have another tab of Private ratings as well.

Its a niche feature and more useful for some rather than others. Ie you could leave a quick note to say "doucheback because of x post, keep on ignore" without annoying anyone.

Either this or there should be a notepad feature, say I want to track alts of someone without ruining that guy's reputation with no proofs. And it can be also useful as dogie has pointed out.
