Title: Looking for 775 socket t cpu Core 2 Duo, Quad, Dual Pentium
Post by: underminer on October 24, 2012, 02:21:06 AM
I am looking for some good socket 775 processors I have some boards that could use some upgrades.  Since these are no longer manufactured but still widely used, there is still demand for them for people looking to upgrade, especially the core 2 quad but even for the faster core 2 duo's.  I occasionally can find them cheap, but only one at a time and this has grown tiresome.  I am not looking for celeron (I typically just give them away) but could be interested in Pentium Dual Core if the price is good.  Please let me know what you have and what you will accept for it, including shipping to US.  Thanks!

**edits**  (bold)

**edit** I can do paypal or ebay I am low on bitcoins but still looking for core 2 quad

Mainly what I have are 11 (lol) matching intel mainboards.  I can get you more details tomorrow, but the socket is 775, there are two pci express x16 lanes and one full-length x4 lane (you can fit 3 video cards directly into the board, I have one running now with 3 5770 cards), and it is a full size board so there are four ram slots and the board will accept 667 and 800 speed ddr2 for sure.  Thats all I can remember off the top of my head though.

I also have a gigabyte board which is also socket 775 which *may* be claimed (also can get you more details on whether it is/isn't, model #, etc) and this board has one x16 pci express and three short x1 pcie slots.  Also a full board so it will accept 4 ddr2, and I am fairly certain that there is 667 speed in it now.

Interested?  I have *some* 2ghz core 2 duo but I was kind of hoping for extremes for quads as procs for at least a couple of the intel boards, as they can do crossfire on the top two slots and I wanted to see how they would do as mid/low level gamers.  I think I also have some pentium d, maybe some celerons I can include in a deal just to make them bootable, lol.

I have several Pentium D 3.0GHz 775 Processors.

What are you willing to pay?

I'd like to get more info on the boards if possible. Looking to upgrade possibly, concerned with my current processor(s) and memory being compatible with no problems as everything works perfect now but looking to do the same type of potential crossfire with a few of my cards. Only have a single 16x on the 2 boards I have now.

If you can get the model numbers so I can check out the specs. Pics would be nice and wat kinda price are you talking? Wat kinda setups/usage field did these come out of?

thanks for your time

I have a LGA775 Pentium Dual Core 2140 in its original box with the original unused HSF. Where are you located?

That is a 1.6ghz model so probably not one I would be putting into a "gaming" machine. Since its unopened and fan is included (is this correct?) I will offer 1 whole bitcoin.  I am in WA, so decide if it is worth it to you...

I have Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, I have tried selling it on eBay together with motherboard and a case. Didn't end up so well. I do not have a fan for it, just the CPU.
I am in WA too

I have a faster (I think 2.6ghz?) 775 chip as well I'd be willing to sell at the right price.  Or a 100% overclocker (1.86ghz to 3.74ghz)  I also have a Q6600, but that's still being used in my main desktop, so I need to keep it.  ;)

1BTC Shipped? Yeah, not going to happen.

If you're looking at building a gaming system, why are you looking at Pentium Ds regardless of price? A stock E2140 at 1.6GHz will trade blows with a Pentium EE955 at 3.46GHz, and getting a 50% OC on the E2140 is a no brainer even on stock air. A 100% OC is pretty easy with a decent MB.

Well I'm not really looking into Pentium Ds, what I am looking for is in the title but I will consider Pentium D processors if they are very cheap.  A pentium dual core overclockable or not is not really an upgrade from 2ghz core 2 duo, which is mainly what I am looking for.  You don't have what I am really looking for, but when I have 20 motherboards all options must be open!

$30 Each!  What a deal! To further explain though to those that need to know--I give them away typically just to show that a computer works or is running.  I'm not really looking for those (as explained above) so you are only here to troll.  I'm not devastated by your surprisingly predictable behavior.    I think I'll refrain from your little-girl tendency to lock the thread down and run away though.

Maybe later this evening I will have a "for sale" thread with specifics on the motherboards I referred too above.

Thanks!

i think you got a good deal on that c2q. I sold my c2q on ebay 2 months ago and I got $166 for it. Thats something like 15 bitcoins. Saint mightve been better off selling it piecemeal since people want some customization and not a bunch of junk they dont want.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz Quad-Core (AT80569PJ073N) Processor (#271024719613)   US $165.97

That's a way better C2Q than the Q6600 though.  Those Q9550's have always been valued significantly higher.

Yep. Bummer that I got such a good deal--not sure why everyone feels its necessary to pipe in and tell me what I already know.  Q6700 and Q6600 have lower core frequency yes-but also a lower cost across the board.  I will never pay that much for a processor that is 2/3 sockets out of date, hyped up or not it is very old hat.  I'm looking to get some motherboards updated--not really throw money around for that last bit of performance.

People pay stupid amounts for high end old hardware at times though, it's incomprehensible. The Q9550 is about as high as you can go in socket 775, but for that price you could buy a IB quad core that would run circles around the C2Q. Hell, if you live near a Mircocenter you could pick up a i5-3570k, Z77 ATX MB with two x16 slots, and a 8GB DDR3 kit for $250, and that's without MIRs. Why upgrade from an old C2D to a C2Q for $165 when you could just sell your existing MB, CPU and DDR2 and get a brand new kick ass system for the same price as the upgrade?

To be clear, I wasn't trying to argue that the Q9550 was a good deal at that price.  I was just identifying the fact that the higher end stuff still goes for a LOT more than the mid or lower end.

Still looking for core 2 quad, prefer processors with 1066 fsb.  The main update here is that I am low on bitcoins for payment but we can do paypal or ebay transaction if you would like.

If you are still interested in some hardware I am upgrading a few parts and have most of my current setup for sale:

This pretty lady, she's been running strong for four years now so it's certainly used: GTX260 // 896MB // GDDR3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133270

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188026 solid, has never failed me.

CPU: core2duo 3.0ghz E8400 wolfdale http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037

willing to let it go fairly cheap, shoot me a msg, will escrow.
