Title: Suggestions Welcome
Post by: smoothie on October 24, 2012, 02:40:09 AM
In a self-effort to better myself on the forums I'm opening up this thread to have any and all (enemies and friends) suggest how I should or shouldn't operate on this forum.

I'll give an example. I was asked by Theymos not to be annoying. But IMO that is vague. Perhaps the community can add to Theymos' request of me or put your own two cents into what he means.

I'll take all criticism and trolling and serious suggestions into consideration.

Thanks

YOUR BEST FRIEND,

 ;D ;D ;D

from a BTC-E point of view i see no issues with u. but from a forum point of view many of us like to expand our opinions without restraint.

i gave up my INABA BFL flaming weeks ago. i came to the conclusion, although his comments dont hold water. what can my comments do. its not like i can slap him with a wet fish to get a proper answer out of him.

so now i try to think before i speak. and only comment on relevent matters that effect the community not an individuals brainfart of an answer

Insightful...thanks...I will try to do the same given it seems reasonable.

Don't do anything to make your posts stand out visibly unless you're in a very non-serious thread. Use mostly normal text, with bbcode reserved for situations where it allows you to convey your ideas more effectively. For example, off the top of my head I can only imagine [size] being legitimately useful for headings in very long posts.

Does this mean I need to change my signature too?

No, some extra markup is OK in signatures.

Can't say I've got a problem with you Smoothie   ;D

Part of the being on the internet is allowing yourself to be..well..yourself. When confronted with anonymity though, people sometimes turn to the dark side..scamming, insulting, or just being an asshole in general.

For me, that's part of the reason I've let up on being totally anonymous. As a result, I usually always "think before I post"...I imagine that the other person I'm responding to is in the same room and we're having a face to face conversation. If it's business related, then I'll try to be as professional as possible (hell, just look at how I respond to trolls on my Mining Fund thread :P).

Anyway...it helped me out, so why not throw in my 2 cents  :D
