Title: What I'm reading.
Post by: Monster Tent on October 25, 2012, 02:02:20 AM
I was watching game of thrones and decided to read some of the books written by the same author the series is based on, George R.R. Martin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Cards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Cards) should keep me busy for awhile.

Some of my other favourite authors
Neal Stephenson (I read cryptonomicon in one sitting on a train ride)
Isaac Asimov
Alduos Huxley (like george orwell but with lots more drugs)
Stephen King
Stephen R Donaldson
Megan McCafferty
Philip K. Dick
+ many more.

Who are your favourite authors? What are you reading now ? What is your favourite book ? Is there a tv/movie version of your favourite book/series and is it as good  ?

I like all the classic sci fi writers.  Recently I found some Poul Anderson books that I bought a couple years ago and never read because right after I did I started working a lot of overtime and forgot about them.  They are pretty cool!  I really like the way he paints a detailed picture of the environment and there is something to be said for "dated" sci fi--they just don't write 'em like they used to.

I remember reading Poul Anderson years ago. His story "Third World War" pretty much covers the future we are headed for with total American military rule over the earth.
