I have read the google webmaster guidelines and I think as long as I don't offer monetary compensation it's ok to ask if others can link to a website.

I don't think you're going to get many takers, for nobody's going to link to a website created for free and littered with grammatical errors. You would have better luck asking for a 10 BTC in Newbie then getting results you desire with this venture.

It's a work in progress and I'm well aware of all the shortcomings. But I'm like that, I open the shop before everything is in place.

Thanks for the feedback and feel free to post something on the website. I promise I will try to clean up everything as soon as possible. Is just that without a web presence there is not so much to discuss in the first place, you know what I mean? Bit of SEO advice for you... incoming links are a waste of time to you if the on page SEO isn't up to scratch.

For starters your Meta Title is too long, and you don't have a Meta Description at all!!

Ok. Fiddling with all that stuff is a bit time consuming, I will try to install a WP SEO plugin and just hope that it takes care of most of that stuff.

Seo is dead, it's a waste of time building links to promote your site.
Make some search about Penguin and Panda, the new beasts Google has created to scare away all the Seo attempts.
In any case if you believe in link building you should know that the links have a value which you have to pay or to exchange on the link exchangers.
And pay attention to the majorddf advice, if you don't have the proper onpage Seo you are wasting your time as well.
