Title: A mistake in bitcoin.org? (Satoshi's github account) Post by: jl2012 on October 10, 2015, 03:58:29 PM In https://bitcoin.org/en/development , "Satoshi Nakamoto" is linked to the github account of saracen
However, https://github.com/saracen is an active github account. Is there anything wrong? Title: Re: A mistake in bitcoin.org? Post by: achow101 on October 10, 2015, 04:13:04 PM Now I am very confused. Looking at the commit history of the github, the saracen account was creating commits very early in Bitcoin's development, along with sirius-m. Maybe that was Satoshi? But it was creating commits before the saracen account was created. Perhaps satoshi created that account and then deleted it so someone else claimed the account? If you hover over the name in the commit list it shows it as "s_nakamoto"

Is there anything wrong? I have wondered about this before but assumed the saracen account was created to aid the migration from Sourceforge to Github by mirroring Satoshi's commits. Consider for example this Sourceforge commit (http://sourceforge.net/p/bitcoin/code/199) by s_nakamoto with timestamp 2010-12-12 18:20:36 GMT and this Github one (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/97ee01ad898b0699c2319a1283313881ef4ba430) by saracen with timestamp 2010-12-12 18:20 GMT. This looked like an automated process to me and was enough to quell my curiosity. Title: Re: A mistake in bitcoin.org? To be honest I hope it isn't/wasn't satoshi because the less we have to track him down with, the better.
The poor man just wanted to make a better financial system and now he's being hunted like an animal without being able to appreciate the fruits of his labor to the fullest benefit because of the constant harassment. It would be cool to see things through his eyes, and know where he's been to hear his story, but we're better off praying that he just stays hidden/silent. Title: Re: A mistake in bitcoin.org?
