Title: Block chain too big for Live CD
Post by: jibinkor on October 25, 2012, 07:11:24 PM
Hello,

I created a secure offline wallet using a Ubuntu Live CD. When trying to verify that the funds I sent to it had been received and that I could send them back to my online wallet, I ran out of space (not enough RAM, I suppose) before the client had finished syncing the block chain.

What's the best solution to this? Do I buy more RAM or can I store the block chain on the hard drive (or USB stick) instead of in the RAM without compromising security?

Thanks in advance!

You need a few gigs of room to download the blockchain.. like 4+ I believe.

I put a VM image inside a truecrypted file on a thumb drive so that I can access the data on any file system through the VM software.

I think the block chain is around 5GB at this point in time.

Cool!

I've looked it up on Google, and it looks good. Thanks for the tip!
