Title: Antminer S7 on Hashnest
Post by: carlosmnk on October 12, 2015, 09:37:06 PM
Hi, i've bought an Antminer S7 for 7.81BTC and sell it in a few hours for 9.72BTC, what a pretty surprise!!

But now the hashnest's S7 are "non aviable". What do you think? It is possible that Bitmain is selling their S7's at that other price, but with the GHS format?

Can you explain how you made that BTC in a few hours?  That is a sweet profit for hours.

Was it just them running out of stock that made people want them?  Or did they announce anything?

I bought the antminer s7 on 7/10 and sell 4860 ghs at the same moment it started to hash...  8)

the preorder on hashnest was for 7.81btc he then sold the gear piecemeal  1gh to  100gh at a time at a higher price.

the window is gone to do it as hashnest  stopped selling s-7s  they sold 1000 at   7.81 btc each

equipment is largely based on demand and btc speculation pricing so if people are excited about the market you can make a quick buck in resale, but you can lose just as easy.

Yes, good for him. Well done. If the demand for S7 was not there he would have had to sell at a loss, or probably just keep it for the mining income.

I think OP has the most profitable S7 experience yet.   Others will wait a LONG time and hope to get profit like this.

Only wish I would have known and gotten one during this.  Ohh well I guess.  But congatz to OP.

My crystal ball is a little hazy but I suspect soon all the S7 hash bought as a speculation will be sold. I see a large gap between bid and ask at Hashnest with buyers with largest bids between .0015 and .0017. If bitcoin price started trending down S7 price could easily crash from .0019 to .0016. Not to mention at current price S5 is the better buy as it is considerably more profitable. My bids are in under .0016 otherwise I would rather own S5.

yeah s5 = 0.000733
 and s7 =  0.001933

that ratio is wrong the s-5 is a bargain

or the s-7 is overpriced.

at 0.000733 an entire s5 = 0.84295 btc  which is under 210 usd

at 0.001933 an entire s7 = 9.39438 btc which is over  2254 usd

Thinking of cloud and pricing.  I remember you pointing V4 looked not near as good on PACMiC.

Did you figure out if PACMiC v4 is typed wrong?  Or if it is that much worse then V3?

the pacmic v4 is really bad deal. The best they are offering is s5 hash.

I just purchased 439 gh in s5

Since I am a complete noob on PacMic, do the prices reflect an "all in" price for a GH? Does the price include runtime costs as well as equipment costs? If the prices are "all in", then the price/GH should be virtually identical, shouldn't they?

Maybe folks expect that an S7 GH will have greater long term value, than an S5 GH (i.e. better resale vale)?

they made the deal better as it was first using the  s5 and is  now using the s7---------- I guess I was correct  thinking the meant to base it off s-7 power costs per gh.

so pacmic v4 would be more likely to not mine under its power cost per gh since the s7 is ½ the power cost of the s-5

so the demand is much higher than the market price at the moment, or it was just you being very lucky?

because i doubt people are stupid enough to pay 20%, maybe it was a naive user...

high demand.

there was a window of opportunity to pre order at about .0016 btc a gh  current price is now around

.001976 btc a gh      on the 9th there where 600 left of 1000 for sale on the 10th they all sold out   at about 7.9 btc  or maybe 7.84 btc

so anyone that jumped in at that price made an instant score the next day.

if you had 24 coins  they turned into about 30 in a day.

Maybe his a newbie miner and didn't know the exact price for S7? but google is available that is why I might be wrong, and you are just very lucky to find a buyer with that extreme stupidity!  ???

Question is where did you sell your S7? I also think the country of the buyer might add to the conclusion on why he buy your S7 with that kind of price?

I have a sell in at 0.0020

name of the game is buy low sell high.

meanwhile the s-7 hash I have earns some btc.

Speculators enjoyed a full week of selling S7 hash they bought during the pre-sale for a quick profit. Fair value is about .0016 and anyone buying S7 GHs for more than that is taking a rather large chance on a quick loss on paper that could take a long time to make up. Better to wait until the price bottoms out to buy.

The last buyers of S7's on hashnest got pretty nice profits on those who resold.  I wonder what the price will be.

Also if they do happen to do a smaller S7 that is rumored what that will do to current S7 prices will be interesting.

Expect a dump, people will dump other holdings just to get on that s7 train. I wonder at what price will they sell, I doubt selling hashes again immediately would be profitable this time.

I would agree on people wont get as lucky on selling immediately.  Only chance is if some whale or group buys them all up and controls the market.  If they could control makert... it would cost a lot but they could possibly effect selling price of all those wanting to go from S5 to S7's.

Guess we will see what happens.

More S7s coming in, pushing the price of S5s and S4s per gigahash further down. S5 hashes are already at an all-time low, at 60k sats/Gh - which is a steal.

Money is buying S5, not S7 (unless you buy entire miners at 0,0010/ghs and selling it at 0,0014/ghs, this could be a lot of money, too)

S5 is the best deal at the moment.

@142 USD it will become unprofitable.

S4 is quite risky, especially if you watch the market closely. There is very less trades there.

S7 will be a good buy @ 0.0012 0.0013

then you can easily sell it, because still new

Yes true, and with every addition of S7s in HashNest the price drops for S5 a bit too, which makes buying them a bit more profitable than ever. Of course, it corrects and levels up accordingly.

I've just read this:

"From November 25th, 2015, at 9 a.m. Beijing time , Hashnest will open sales 1000 units of batch 4 S7 hashing contracts.

The hashrate will become effective in your account 168 hours after purchasing.

23.11.2015"

So this is why S5 is now down to 0.0006 again. At least, now S7 is at .00125, a fairer price compared to previous batches. If we wait a bit, maybe we can catch S5 Ghs at .0004.

This is the biggest issue. As they add S7 the prices just continue to slip which you will just about never ROI until the difficulty levels out for some period.  Only issue with that is the price per gh/s may still slip if btc price rises in the near term with the expectation of the halving.

It's almost to the point where playing with Hashnest is a losing game for everyone except Bitmain.

not only that, but it seems that the waiting time is only 1 week now compared to the past , when it was 12 days, this is good

also the overall price is 5.5 btc only another good, thing, i'm really tempted to invest

Some heav market manipulation has been going on there.  S7 were solid at 2 BTC, now 4 weeks later they are worth just a 1.2 BTC A lost of 40%+

The bitcoin price however raised, which caused my suspicion directly.

where do you see that price? when i go on hashnest the virutal price for a s5 is 1.12905359BTC
If you buy it on the market at sub .00055 per Gh/s

Indeed but prices continues continue to slip, I would wait until next difficulty adjustment as it will likely be another big one.

Megatron you get the s5 at that price by buying hash on market.

Some heav market manipulation has been going on there.  S7 were solid at 2 BTC, now 4 weeks later they are worth just a 1.2 BTC A lost of 40%+

The bitcoin price however raised, which caused my suspicion directly.

I feel you mate. It's been a waste of money thinking you could earn on cloud mining. My lesson of it is don't depend on third parties, do it yourself or do something else.

Only investing long term will report earnings (or short speculation)
I have invested 3.1BTC and i'm transfering 0.15BTC each week, without selling hashpower

S5 is the best deal at the moment.

@142 USD it will become unprofitable.

S4 is quite risky, especially if you watch the market closely. There is very less trades there.

S7 will be a good buy @ 0.0012 0.0013

The fact is that with current prices of the s7 you will never return on investment, nor with the s5, when you count the rise in difficulty until the btc halving. the only chance to ROI is with btc price raising. But then its making any sense to buy hash or a miner, just buy btc and hold them.

here is my basic calculation:

1000gh:
0.007 * 0,7=0.0049 current difficulty earnings
0.0045*0,35=0.0016 difficulty*1,5 earnings before halving
0.0049+0.0016= 0.0033*230 = linear raising and at the end of 7 months you will earn 0.76 btc, but you paid 1.2 btc.

without btc rising your miner is obsolete after the halving, new generation machines took over btc mining or btc will rise, but then its more profitable to buy and hold btc, so you make a gain, otherwise you just cover your loss.

I am not a prophet (i wish i could) but saying that right now the hardware price could be overpriced by almost 40%.

a win scenario opens at the price of

0.0008 for 1GH S7 gear

or

0.0004 for 1GH S5 gear

if you want to ROI 20% over 7 months

0.00065 for 1GH S7 gear

or

0.0003 for 1GH S5 gear.

just saying with numbers. dont get fooled or lose money, because others are buying .....

What are the assumptions for your calculations?

It will be well over a month or more for the S7 to reach .0008 per Gh/s, but honestly I think your numbers are just random scenarios because they have no relation to each other.

How did you come up with these targets?
