Title: What's the best way to sell bitcoins in the US?
Post by: noncecents on October 26, 2012, 11:55:07 PM
Hi all,

I bought a new gaming PC with two Radeon 7970's and I found that I don't really game all that much.

Mostly it's because I discovered all the games that actually use my GPU's to their full potential involve some form of chasing people around and shooting them, which really doesn't appeal to me all that much.

So I got into mining bitcoins about a week ago.

I've made about $35 worth at current exchange rates so far and I've calculated that I should be able to mine at about $160 USD per month.

I've also ordered 2 ASIC units, one BFL and one bASIC. When I receive them I should be hashing at around 120Gh/s, which means I'll be making what I am making now per month in one day (the costs of the units is sunk because I'm more interested in seeing how this project goes than in making money).

But what I can't figure out is how am I supposed to translate these bitcoins in my wallet into fiat currency (USD)?

I went to many exchange websites, all of which were poorly laid out and extremely complicated, and when you get down to it they didn't offer any sane way to actually cash out bitcoins.

The only way I've found to actually get cash for bitcoins is to first exchange them for Linden dollars, then cash out the Linden dollars on the Second Life website.

That's a really kludgy way of doing it and I can't help thinking there's got to be a simpler way.

What do you think?

try https://mtgox.com/

its pretty simple, you send your bitcoins to mtgox to fund your account, sell the bitcoins for usd and you can send the usd to your bank account, or create coupons which can fund other online accounts, the coupons can be used at websites like http://www.bitinstant.com

:)

You can now buy and sell Bitcoin by connecting any U.S. bank account (http://blog.coinbase.com/post/34357253898/you-can-now-buy-and-sell-bitcoin-by-connecting-any-u-s) to your Coinbase (https://coinbase.com/) account.

I find localbitcoins tends to be overpriced in my area.

I stick to mtgox and btc-e for selling bitcoins.
