Bitmain, please take your time testing Batch 1. A couple more weeks of NOT shipping the miners is ok now that a compensation plan - weak as it may be - is in place.

I agree and I am awaiting an s-7 batch 2.

I was blown away that we got a flat adjustment last period.  Shipping delays have to be the culprit, as we've been waiting for the new gear to hit for a couple adjustments now.  I think the winner last round only picked the winning range because that was all that was left, lol!

So I'm expecting a bigger bump this time, but I expected that the last 3 and was surprised at how wrong I was each time.

I am very afraid of this.   If  they do all of these it could really hurt.  Only thing saving us is b2 and b3 have not sold out.  So I'm hoping lower sales...  but I'm not sure of that.

If Bitmain does make all three it likely could be one of the worst in recent history.

Well I have been anticipating them for a while, that said starting to get tempted to bet against them delivering on the schedule seeing how the last two rounds went. Either way it is coming.

we have not seen 266 since aug 12th

at 266 and 10 cents a kwatt an s-7 can make over power costs until diff goes to 217  since diff is 60 it would seem that we are all good.

except that the ½ -ing is coming.

so at 266 and 10 cent power the s-7 turns profit at   108 diff

Or it could add to the coming hash frenzy that should hit the network and get people to turn on even more miners, maybe ones that have been off all summer.  You wouldn't know it from where I live, but the northern hemisphere is (technically) well into fall and temps should be more favorable.

This time I'm waiting bigger diff. Equipments in transit will be opened this period.

Most likely in 2 weeks it will be +5 and in 4 weeks it will be +10%. Especially since BTC is almost $270 and winter is coming.

It all depends on how fast they produce the new S7's.  Also it appears they are testing hashing boards and putting stickers on them.  So it's possible they might ship miners without data center burn in.   If not we will see a data center raise the difficulty doing burn in's.

Price keeps going up higher 264 is pretty amazing right now.  I hope we keep rising as it's very nice to see.

I am surprised how fast it moved.  Man is it good tough.

At this rate we'll be looking into breaking 300s by Christmas, which would be a great present to me if it did. The difficulty does not seem to be climbing too aggressively and depending on how many people turn to ASIC heating for winter and new ASIC hitting the doors, we might be able to ride out the difficulty rise with an ahead profitability.

Really interested to see the difficulty change. Weird having a low diff change when all that juicy new gear comes out. Maybe a ton being retired and a lot going to centralized mining?

Don't really know for sure.

We can guess there's not that much extra PH/s that was actually onlined yet, much more to come, most likely. Whats surprising is the difficulty not following the price. I'm not complaining by all means but you'd expect some people, especially with the cold coming to the north, would re online their s3's and such for profits/free heat.

i think price follows difficulty, on the way up at least.  it is usually a few weeks behind.  after we dropped into the 200s, from the highs, whenever difficulty climbs price goes up a few weeks later.  ohh and then the usual dump by a big player or an exchange insider followed by panic selling.  rinse and repeat.

an s-3 at 10 cents a kwatt is earning 1.70 usd with price of 267 a coin.

But it would also put out  about 1600 btu .   so if price stays above 267 they would zero out your heating costs at the current diff.

BTW we are at block 1732 to go which means we made 284 blocks so far.

and we are under 144 pace today with 58 blocks in 10 hours 20 minutes

we should be at  62

Yeah, that's not really a large jump in the grand scheme of things, but I think the new gear will start to come online towards the end of this period and push the difficulty up at that point.

I expect we're going to see a lot of hash come online soon, but with diff over 60G now even a small percentage represents a fairly large bump in network power.

yes but it was monthly. not daily.  BTW coins are at 271!  So an s-3 will give  400 watts of heat 24/7/30  each month and pay you $1.88 usd.

So my house with 10 s-3's scattered about  would give 4000 watts of heat or just about  13,500 btu

My winter heating bill is 200 usd  a month. It will be 20 or 30 usd.

I would love coins to get a little ahead of diff.  Not crazy like 250, 270, 300, 350 ,400 ,450, 500 by nov 1.

Thinking again another small change.  If they are doing what i think they are doing maybe it stay steady thru to halving, replacing older tech with more efficient machines.  Allowing to make a ton more in power savings vs having a pissing match with other asic manu.  Just a thought anyway :)

Price is doing pretty great around 270 nice little bump.  Will be interesting once we hit weekday's to see if bitmain kicks it into high gear on S7's they have to do it sometime soon.

It has to be coming they really don't have a choice but to finish batch 1 or look even worse.  I predict they make more then needed for all 3 batches to.

Well price is back up to $264, I think we're going to waffle around in the 260s for a bit before we move any higher.  There's a lot of hardware out there waiting to come online and I think that is playing into it.

Diff this period is starting to rise as people plug in there S7s around the globe.  Still not seeing that mega-jump we were all expecting, but I have to think it will come soon.

Not sure why it's going down.  But price still looks nice at around 268 we might have a really good day.

As of this writing, we just added block 379767 to the chain.  The diff adjustment was block 379008.  That was on 2015-10-15 11:32:31.  379767 was found 2015-10-20 17:31:30.  This is one second shy of 7559 minutes.  We have solved 759 blocks in that time.  Expected average for that time is 755 (just one minute and one second shy of expecting 756).

So, we've actually found 759 and should have found 755.  Only 4 blocks over for the period so far...

In the last few days Bitmain has been selling S7s like there's no stopping them.  All this hash is coming to a difficulty adjustment near you soon!  My guess is the huge spike is a couple very large orders to a few people.  Those are the ones that are going to made a bump in the difficulty.  I think what we're seeing now is just the "little guys" getting their S7s running.

1588BTC is around what like 150 Miners or so? When you account with shipping and PSU sales.

150X5=0.75Pth/s.

It will hardly affect the overall difficulty.

Holy Crap!   BTC is up to 269 so as far as price per BTC i is really good as far as buying gear from bitmain it's the best it's been.  Only thing is there is no longer 100 dollar coupons so it kinda evens out to a point.

Guess we will see what happens.   But that is a lot of sales in one day.

It's probably closer to 200 but yeah, even 1 PH/s is ~0.2% of total hashrate. So even if they managed to sell that much EVERY day and then deliver the miners at the same pace (clearly not happening with Batch 1) it's still only 2.8% per cycle.

I think you are likely right.   I was thinking much bigger on data center on holding but it seems like it's been smaller then I thought.  I kept thinking huge wave coming but it seems like I might have been all wrong.

I'm also surprised, it would not take many S7 to raise the difficulty at least a bit more than this. What is going on? They shipped much less than we guessed, or is it because they took orders for tons of miners when they aren't shipping out the miners?

Also their hosted mining rate mining compensation is kind of a joke, they're taking like 0.1$/kWh?

I just can't figure out how many S7's are being sold.  I thought a lot more would be I guess then I think happened.  And to be honest I'm not sure I want to buy one right now with BTC rising.  Getting 30 + more per coin puts those who did not buy at 230 pricing ahead.

My conclusions are only bitmaintech is making gear in bulk.

KNC, Bitfury ,Avalon SP-tech are yet to launch their newer gear.

Great news is bitcoin is over 273.   So we have hit 270 again, guess we will see if we are able to hold.   I'm not sure we seem to have been going up and down around it.

But maybe we finnaly got rid of a lot of the sell at 270 auto sales.  I'm hoping for slow rise again.  And difficulty is still surprising no S7 wave.  If it does not happen within next period or so I will not know what to think.

I see little to no evidence of SP50's coming online... And SP did not reply to my inquiry to purchase 3 units.

Interesting reading the math around how many S7's are shipping, no huge spikes.  We may be trading power for hash for a short while longer if no other manufacturers gear shows.

I think SP50 is going to be some bulk sales once it hit's market. I don't know when that is. But I have a feeling you need to throw a few hundred thousand to get them to respond to first batch.   And also there no doubt will be a NDA, I don't suspect to hear from those who are on this order list.

Maybe later on they will anwser inquiries on a few.  But it will not be at first, and definitely not close to release without a NDA.

Price is around 277 so looking quite nice this difficulty period currently.   Hopefully this trend continues.

One thing you have to hate or love depending on what side your on is sell wall's or auto sells.  I think 290 might be a little bit of a fight to stay over unless it is slow.

I like 300, too.  It's a nice round number, and it looks much better than 200.  ;D

I'm not sure exactly what is driving the recent price increase, but it's nice to see the price getting back up to where it was before XT launched.  That really threw a monkey wrench into everything and was part of the reason we lost all that ground price-wise I think.  So maybe not so much making head way as it is gaining lost ground.

Gemini while not a real player was touted and had a lot of PR so that may have acquired some attention, the same with the MMM schemes getting more popular in China and the 1mb issue quieting down a bit again.

I feel if this price backs down, that the difficulty will not move much more than a percent right now.

Only because difficulty is sort of stable night now. Nothing too large and nothing dropping hard. Bitcoin probably will continue this trend of up and down because it loves playing at $300. But doesn't stay there long.

The price has been interesting me lately since its in a six week uptrend and the difficulty seems to be stable, I was looking up some of the calculated charts from speculation.

EV says that resistance -1.75 around $320 so assuming it passes the mental wall of 300 we will see a statistical increase in mining due to correlations that come alongside seasonal signal changes to mining. (Also known as it's getting colder)

But as it is presently i'll just continue to observe any mining relationships based on future prices as predictors and signals of one another.

I liked being wrong and having it around 2 percent.  But guess 4 is not horrible we have seen much worse.

With price around 295 its hard to be to sad over it.  I'm feeling pretty darn good on it overall.

as A complete aside I have decided my batch 1 machine is best at freq 593  I get 4780gh use 1188 watts gives me 0.2485 watts at the wall.

So my second piece of gear comes tomorrow. I moved the first one out of the bedroom into the garage so sound is not a problem.

We seem to have 2 threads indicating avalon 6's in early November.  We will see how good the sources are.  It will be interesting to see BM and Avalon both making gear.

It should be a good thing as far as price on miners (I'm hoping at least).  But it could be a bad thing on difficulty rise if both start pumping out machines.

On a good note coinbase hit 303.... impressive hopefully it stays and does not go down below again.

Yes it will be an interesting few Months we are moving into. S7's being powered up SP50 coming on stream. Then Potentially a clutch of 3.5TB "Home" Miners from 3 Manuafacturers being available, and all that with the Halving getting ever closer. The rise in BTC has been nice to see and I have undone all the undervolting on my s5'S  :)

Can anyone throw light on why they think we have seen this rise in BTC? All of which goes to make even harder guessing the coming rises in Difficulty...

My batch 2 arrived. I am running it off the batch 1 s-7  I have almost a zero error rate on a slight down clock 568

my error rate is 0.0001%  I am getting 9150gh I am burning 2300 watts  the batch came marked 575 per board bitmain really over priced the batch 2 delivered them slow and generally screwed anyone like me that thought ordering a batch 2 was smart.

I figure I lost close to an entire coin by getting the batch 2 and not the batch 3.  And the discount was not 1 btc.

back to the diff.  we are dropping and quite a bit.  must be bitmaintech off loaded gear to ship.  we  have about 36 block left to go and are under 2.7%

It is amazing if we get under 3 percent.  With coinbase at 304... that would be impressive to say the least.

Three sold this week got just under 885 for 3 coins.

I purchased 3 s-7,s in house and 1 hosted.

Just about 7400.

I shipped one to Europe and I am mining with the three.
If coins continue upwards to 400 I should do okay.

I think this just means that there are still more S7s that Bitmain has unplugged and are making their way to new homes.

I also think that, as difficulty rises, the percent increase each adjustment will be less than we are used to, because 2% of 60G is 50% more than 2% of 40G from a few months ago. I.E. a 2% adjustment at 60G equals a 3% adjustment at 40G, and they both equal 1% at 80G.

So lower adjustments now look nice, but they are the same as bigger adjustments a year ago.

Its really surprising, i wasnt expecting a 35% raise in BTC price so quick, meanwhile the difficulty is not really increasing by much, which is *very* surprising considering that this would bring back profitability with S5's and maybe even S3's for many user for the meantime.
