Title: [CLAM POLL] Would you like the SuperCLAM account controlled someone elected?
Post by: BayAreaCoins on October 18, 2015, 06:07:53 PM
Just wondering what everyone else views on this are.

SuperCLAM is the Clamcoin OP community account.  It is currently being shared by Xploited and Creative.

I propose that we have an election in order to see who manages this account once per year with a few checks and balances.

Need to see candidates position on issues and past record before I can vote.

Where do they stand on gun control, abortion, Iran, etc?

Would you like the SuperCLAM account controlled someone elected?

Let's have a 4th option for those who don't understand the question.

Are you saying that we should vote to decide whether SuperCLAM gets to keep control of her bitcointalk account?

I think abortion should be illegal after the 50th trimester.

What would you like the 4th option to be?

Are you saying that we should vote to decide whether SuperCLAM gets to keep control of her bitcointalk account?

It isn't her account.  It is Xploited delegating to her as I understand.

I'm saying we should have a vote to determine who is delegated the task of running the account and making posts that are based on facts and consensus.

Let's put your account up to the same vote.

My account isn't a community based project.

My account isn't a community based project.

Exactly! And neither is hers.

You seem to be confusing the bitcointalk account with the CLAM project.

They are different things, in the same way that the bitcoin.org domain isn't the Bitcoin project.

We don't get to vote who controls bitcoin.org if we don't like the current owner. We make a new site and if it's more popular it will become the default place that people go.

I voted for the third option. I dug up my clams when they were about .011, and against my gut decided to hold as the price collapsed. It's now less than 25% of what it was when I dug up just a couple of months ago. Fuck this shitcoin tbh.

I was under the impression that the SuperClam account was under the control of Xploited and Creative because it was considered the community account.  Xploited delegated the forum task to Creative and he rarely signs into the SUPERclam account.  (I'm not trying to put words in anyone's mouth here of course... I'm just saying if the community truly makes a shit then they should be allowed to hold elections)

https://bitcoin.org/en/about-us

Bitcoin.org was originally registered and owned by Bitcoin's first two developers, Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi. When Nakamoto left the project, he gave ownership of the domain to additional people, separate from the Bitcoin developers, to spread responsibility and prevent any one person or group from easily gaining control over the Bitcoin project.

I'd say the control over the project is insane atm.  The amount of brown nosing that has to be done to get a link on the OP is truly stupid.

What if tomorrow someone opens a 0% edge and 0% invest dice site and the JD link is removed from the OP because why would any noob play at 1% or invest at 10%?

I think if a site is "legit" and performs the CLAM task they say the will, then it should be listed on the CLAM OP.

I didn't have to do any to get JD in OP. I didn't even ask for it to be put there as far as I remember. I'm not even sure if it is there. It doesn't matter to me whether it's there or not.

The OP post is for Creative to list the projects she approves of. Complaining because people refuse to advertise your commercial site for free is out of order in my opinion.

What if tomorrow someone opens a 0% edge and 0% invest dice site and the JD link is removed from the OP because why would any noob play at 1% or invest at 10%?

That would be great, so long as it was someone trustworthy.

I think if a site is "legit" and performs the CLAM task they say the will, then it should be listed on the CLAM OP.

My site is legit and performs the task it says it will. I think it should be listed prominently on your site.

Oh, wait. It's YOUR site, and YOU get to decide what you list and what you don't? Good. Same with Creative's OP post. It's up to her what she lists and what she doesn't.

Same with Creative's OP post. It's up to her what she lists and what she doesn't.

Basically sums up everything I was saying.

I guess I'll create a CLAM post this evening and change the links on the surrounding websites to point to the new thread.

Thought we could do it through voting as a community, but I'm happy just push it.

The vote right now indicates that people disagree with you anyways Doog...   ::)

That's fine. I'm OK with people disagreeing with me.

It doesn't really matter what the result of the vote is since the ownership of forum accounts isn't decided by voting.

Could you better explain why? The account is made by the developers and was used to post the Clam announce thread. It doesn't need to be anyone else's but the original developers. You can always make your own account that you can hold elections for, and your own community thread, if you like.

I thinks this is getting rather silly...the Clam Dev's have started this, and so far have done a honorable job. Dooglus has added much value by running JD. If Pep's don't like what is happening maybe they could release there own coin and show us all how it should be done. I mean you BayAreaCoins

Jon  ;)

Control of a "community" account should be subject to vote.

Seems like a public position sort of and if the majority don't want that person to have the power... then they shouldn't.

Don't know if BAC is 20 years old or 40 years old, but his socio-political theories are timeless.
