Title: Bitcoin Electrum Pending?
Post by: viking02 on October 19, 2015, 04:32:52 PM
I sent btc from my electrum to many sites.  Normally it doesn't take that long for the other site to receive my BTC.  Most of the time i do not put a sending fee, so I put 0.  Recently i sent BTC to a site and it got many confirmations within 45 minutes or so.  I done a few of these.  Recently I did another deposit to the site and its been over 1 hour and I do not even have 1 confirmation at all.  Still shows as pending.  The site where i received the btc still shows as unconfirmed though the btc did add to my account.  Of course that doesn't mean anything if btc isn't confirmed.

Can someone tell me the reason for this?  I usually would have at least 1 confirmation at the minimum when sending bitcoin.  Note i always use electrum.

I did click on the Reference number on the site where i sent the btc to and blockchain says estimated time is very soon and high priority.  So that means it should show up not that long from now?  I did read people having issues with this even with sending a fee.

so you didn't include any fee? that might be your problem. no fee transactions normally takes a long time to confirm.

btw. posting the tx id here might help.

I don't think i ever included a fee except one time maybe.  However, i never had an issue with it when sending the bitcoin.

However could there be an issue where the bitcoin never reach the site?  If so, what happens then?  Also would i be able to access my electrum wallet from another laptop assuming i have my password phrase and my password in case i have issues with my current computer?

It's not computer issue , if you didn't use fees then your transaction will probably not get confirmed at all and it will take few days then eventually come back to your wallet and that's it . [post TX ID please]

and yes you will be able to access your Electrum using your seed & your password if you change computer .

then you must be extremely lucky or something.

like omegastarscream said: the network will probably forget about your transaction and the btc will return to your wallet.
you'll need the seed in order to open your wallet in another computer.

Do most of you always send the 0.0002 btc miners fee then every time?  I believe first few times i didn't put any fee and i had no issues at all.  So because of that i usually dont send a fee if any.

Is there anyone here that does this at all?

Do you know how long it could be before the btc gets returned to my wallet then?  Based on this, most likely the btc will show up but later?  It does say estimated time is VERY SOON (HIGH PRIORITY)

Yes everyone send a transaction using miner fees so it gets accepted , I'm not sure how you get yours confirmed all the time and you don't use any fees , it doesn't make a lot of sense .
for what comes to the time , it may take like 4-5 days I suppose ? (correct me if I'm wrong)

POST your TX ID (won't be able to help you much if you don't) .

if I'm not mistaken, high priority (missed this when I read the first post) means that you don't need to pay any fee to get your transaction relayed across the network. miners can choose not to accept free transactions but eventually your tx should be confirmed if it get relayed to a willing miner.

Electrum allows users to set fee manually which may lead to set lower fee which is not attractive to miners. So, you need to wait long to get your transaction picked by a miner.

I got this isue before, Dont worry your trasaction will be cancel or it takes to long before sent... next put some fees before you send or you can adjust it in preferences.... try this before you send btc goto tools then preferences- transactions transaction per kb make it 1 kb/s.. your problem will be solve..

Well if it says VERY SOON (HIGH PRIORITY), then you have probably included miners fee or am I missing something. Post you tx I'd like others have said and we will help you.

Also for future reference, it's enough that you include 0.0001 for your future sends. This is like 2 cents, that's nothing!

Electrum now should require a mandatory fee of at least 0.00001 btc to sign the tx (dunno if also on console signed tx, but i don't think it's the case)

no. priority doesn't have anything to do with fee. it depends on input age and the size of the transaction. OP's tx should be long confirmed by now.

Never got an issue for almost one year I used electrum, just put a some fees(it's just cen) and your transaction will confirmed immediately.

You just wait until the transaction confirmed.

This is very confusing.  I just sent btc from my electrum to a certain site and i did not put any fee at all.  The funds showed up there very quickly.  I didn't put a sending fee because last time i tried it with this certain site, it showed within a minute or so.  And now the same thing.

Can someone explain this?

And yes i will put a sending fee each time from now on.  But im confused why this certain site i play on when i send them btc, the btc show up pretty immediately even without a fee.

Old versions of Electrum (before 2.5.1) produce transactions with high S values.
These transactions are now nonstandard. This does not mean they will be rejecteed, they might still be accepted by a miner.
However, it is likely that you will not see them in the memory pool of most nodes.
So please upgrade Electrum to the latest version.
