Title: Molotov Lottery NOW BEING TESTED!
Post by: x_Molotov on October 19, 2015, 11:56:58 PM
Hey guys!

You all know me from the Molotov Giveaways, and now the sports betting threads :)

What would be said for me hosting a lottery?
I could use random.org, and maybe have 1mbtc buyin for 10 ?
5 mBTC for 20 win??

100 mBTC lotteries, w/ 20? mBTC buyin :)

What do you guys think?
I am an honest guy, who likes doing stuff for community, and if you guys are interested in having me host these, I would be perfectly happy to :)

Just let me know in the poll up top!
If I can get 10 people saying yes, I will do my first lottery :)

Drop ideas/feedback about this whole thing below!

Thanks!
Molotov

there is a buy in so the lottery he will be hosting isn't free.

@OP as you dont have enough trust aside from the giveaways that you hosted (which dont matter in this kind of thing) will you accept escrow and how will it work? how could we know it is fair and not one of your alts will win?

I understand that.

How about I have given away 60 mBTC for absolutely free, and I am making so much coin from betting that 10 or 20 mBTC is really nothing.
Then again, I see your point about no trust.
How is there a way to get trust on this forum w/o risk, my friend?
Trust is a beautiful thing, but in order to plant the flower, the seed must be put into the ground.

Then again, there always does need to be buyers protection, or whatever.

How will escrow work?
I am doing this all by hand, so I get say 10, from 10 people, I use Random.org, picks a number, I send the ten to winner.
I take no commission.
Does escrow not mean holding currency until the goods are there? So basically, you put BTC in escrow, and if you lose you revoke?

I do not see how escrow would work at all.

Maybe I am not looking at this correctly, I don't know.

Please feel free to inform me :)

It would go as,
Participants 1-10 take spots, send me 1000 bits each, I use random.org, winner is picked, money sent.

I do not see how escrow is used at all.

I created this thread to ask if people wanted lotteries for their btc.

If so, lotteries will start, along w/ the normal giveaways.
If not, lotteries will not happen, and giveaways will continue as planned.

You greedy MF'rs get my money either way.
I would be taking no shares out of the lottery.

This is just a way for people to play lottery w/ a trusted member and not some greedy casino corporation that takes a 2.5% share out of the pot.

Yes, this is different from my giveaways as you have to put money in, but instead of putting in nothing and getting an mbtc or two, you put an mbtc or two, and get out possibly 10 or 20.
Lordy, people on this forum are untrusting.

@decoded, please tell me your thoughts and how you might change it.
and your opinions on could be changed pre-jump, if it happens at all.

you can ask an escrow to provide a deposit address for the funds and the escrow will pick a number through random.org or by a script so the lottery will be transparent.

I would be in on this. Such small amount to wager with so I see no problem in doing this.

Sounds doable, I just think it would be super easy by just doing it by collecting funds in a separate address, then sending it to one winner.

If you can provide me more info, (via pm) I could look more into it :)

Glad to hear!

Yes, it's like giving a quarter and receiving 2.5$ - 5$ possibly.

Let's get some more voters!

Yes it is easier to collect the fund in separate address without using escrow, but I doubt you'll not get enough players to participate if there is no escrow.

Yes Molotov definitely hosting a lottery is a good idea but at the same time make it little complicated this time. All your free stuff has been completely based o random luck or random chances anyone can have (like your latest freeway based on comments ).But since the meaning of lottery is luck you can go ahead with the idea but you could keep an eligibility criteria to avoid the scam or less interested folks .
