Cool. It's inspiring to see someone successfully fight governments.

Cool. It's inspiring to see someone successfully fight governments.

Always has been, always will be. Especially when the government is the one int he wrong and they refuse to admit it. In a way, this site has similarities to Bitcoin. In terms of technical aspects, but not necessarily in mission aspects. However, some may beg to differ.

To me, Mega and Bitcoin are similar insofar as the design puts control squarely in the domain of the individual.  https is nice and a big step forward, but the endpoint risk is a huge weakness.

Hopefully entities like bitcointalk.org as an example will be able to requisition services from the likes of Mega for sensitive aspects of their service such as PMs.  This would lend a lot of credibility to such a solution and make me feel more comfortable using it for more critical uses.

---

If someone can figure out how to do virtual private computing in a way that I can feel comfortable that I have the same complete control of all data as I do with Mega, I may start to run Bitcoin again.  I'm not sure that such a thing is possible though.  Certainly it would be a big challenge.

Am I the only one who thinks that the new Mega is just a massive honeypot?

It's one of many hypothesis that I currently entertain.  Same with Bitcoin.

What makes you think Bitcoin is a honypot?

What makes you think Bitcoin is a honypot?

There is a huge difference between 'I think', and 'I hypothesize'.  Generally speaking, most hypotheses are specifically not something 'I think' or more precisely, 'believe to be true.'

I hypothesize that both Mega and Bitcoin are honeypots because they would both be effective in this role, and because I've seen no evidence that completely invalidates either idea.

This method of understanding our world is so well proven and widely used by the sciences that it shocks me how so entirely ignorant of it most people seem to be.
