I had to learn this mistake on my own :/ good luck, H p.s. if you are in the UK - check Park Cameras This is a good point and it is why I normally purchase refurbished bodies and lenses direct from the manufacturer or a reputable dealer (e.g. B&H, Adorama, etc.); Nikon in my case, but I'm sure Canon does the same. You get the warranty, you pay a fraction of the price and I was never able to tell that the camera or lens was not brand new.
