Title: bter.com is a scam
Post by: brnbzztt on October 20, 2015, 11:47:48 PM
I had some withdrawal problems in Bter and the support did not apear, now I see there are a lot of scam accusations against this site so It is confirmed. I am very disapointed, I'm new in all this 'bitcoin world' and in just one month I've been scammed about 5 times in different ways, I don't know what to think really.

Could you tell me please which altcoin exchanges are not scam or are recommended? I've read about cryptsy issues, so what do yo think?

Being scammed is now normal here in the cryptoworld unfortunately, sorry for your loss. I am not that familiar with exchanges but you can try browsing to the altcoin service discussion and also the service discussion in the market place, there are a bunch of exchanges available in there.

The only trustable and fully functional exchange at this moment is https://poloniex.com while anything else is more or less a scam and / or lacks liquidity required for any decent trading. Bter had a few hacks in the past but I never actualy had serious problems there. I guess you stubbornly attempted to withdraw coins multiple times using wrong info and got withdrawals temporaly locked, if so just wait a day or two and try again.

Try bittrex. I'm been using them for many months without problems.

Use poloniex, bittrex or btc-e.com. They are safe to use.

i Had chatted with Ryan from Bittrex lots before he started working there.. good guy.
I have had no issues with that exchange and i have all others.. pretty much
Although..
i have been suspicious way back about some new coins popping up at that exchange simultaneously
as on ipominers.com
the two seemed to make and release coins in tandem.. fishy !

BUT, Bittrex has functioned well for me since i regged way back.

Also Allcrypt worked well for me too but i don't know if they exist anymore.

Poloniex has worked ok for me too i guess.

Today I feast ;D, after almost 6 month pending withdrawal my request canceled and return to balance.
with the uncertainty of when it will be possible successful cashout. I already thought that I lost tis coins.

Dear Sir,
Sorry, I am afraid it may take a while before the ac wallet is fixed
The AC withdrawal was cancelled. Please try to withdraw later when the wallet is fixed.Otherwise it may be stuck there.

After bter lost all btc in march of 15 year, it is semi-dead. Volume is low. Many wallets are not working, some of them show warning message about deposite/withdraw dissabled, some not.

But most popular coins - ltc, dash, doge, nmc, vtc, and so on are still working normaly. Deposites and withdraw for them pass.
Had problem with deposites of some coins like xmr, nxt and some shit coins several times, but still it was fixed. Sometimes it took a weeks, sometimes several days.

So.. while btc withdraw pass soon after you request it, exchange can't be call a scam.. Problems with half-deaths coins exist for sure and some of them is not resolving for mounths (qora for example) . So always send test transaction before try to deposite coins in which you can't be sure.

BTER.COM is virtually useless these days.

Before they were allegedly "hacked" they weren't so bad, but now they are a mess.

I suggest this message be repeated until they shut down completely.

I recently ventured to their site for a some small trades - re-testing the waters. The trades went okay, but when I went to withdrawal all manner of hinky garbage hit the fan. Their site (the English Version) does not explain their new BTR point system for withdrawals...which is probably horse crap anyway.

And their "ticket" system? Nobody is home.

I expect that BTER will keep my coins - forever. Are these guys (and gals?) simply a group of thieves? The evidence is piling high -- not unlike feces.

In the mean time, I hope this -- and other negative posts about BTER.COM -- will flood the internet and shut these cats down for good.

We just need to watch out -- spot the same cats when they shift to other exchanges...and await the new and upcoming Decentralized Exchanges --which actually work better, and are easy to use.

Just tried today to login into bter and surprise: It is asking me for 2FA authentication which I never setup there.
I'm not sure if account has been hacked as it let me to login with my old psswd, but then appears screen asking me for auth code sent to my email.

There is a problem as I don't have access to this email long time.
2nd As I said I never setup 2FA there. did they introduced 2FA as obligatory?
How to solve my problem? Anyone from support here?

Bter's interface is terrible. The banners they display on their index page is completely unprofessional - seems like they used the windows paint program for it.

Not surprising to see it go scam, although I have traded around BTC0.9 worth of dogecoins in 1 transaction on that site and it all went through without any problems or delays.

I wish you luck that you'll get your funds back.

I am waiting almost a year for my BTC_B balance to be returned to BTC balance, this is really bad for an exchange like bter, has anyone any info when is the next batch or repayment?

I have ~120 US$ trapped in bter, tried to withdraw ~5 LTC last Monday which are now in state "Waiting for balance" (whatever that means) since then. My second support ticket was answered with the below canned response:
Quote
Dear Sir,
We are so sorry for the inconvenience caused. Our dev team is working on it.
Thanks for your patience

That was two days ago and I haven't heard back on my follow-up asking on an ETA for having LTC (or any withdrawals) working again.

When these signs showed in November last year with Cryptsy I could get most of my funds out over the next days, but I fear this time I will take a loss.

In any case, I would strongly advice you not to deposit any coins to bter as they seem to have very serious problems and it is doubtful if you ever get anything out there.

Naturally I will update this post, should I - against all my expectations - get any of my coins back from bter.

EDIT [01/18/2016]: After 7 days I have received my LTC withdrawal.

Well exchange sites could also be a scam . So i would suggest you to use only those exchanges which have positive feedbacks and most users trust.

Their support is pretty slow now comparing a year ago when they were very fast and they are not refunding us.

I have updated my post above to reflect that after 7 days I have received my LTC withdrawal. In all fairness, this deserves a bump too.

I tried to withdraw XMR on bter.com on 20 Jan 2016 and the account shows an invalid transaction, which does not exist on the XMR blockchain.
I have submitted multiple tickets, they replied to one asking for the withdrawal detail (which I gave them immediately) but have heard nothing so far.
Submitted another ticket today.
Hoping this has a positive outcome.

Thought I ought to post here and let people know that I have had 0.5BTC worth of UNITY go missing from Bter today - I can't find any mention of it in withdrawal history and it's not showing on the blockchain. In fact, I can't find a withdrawal history for UNITY at all on the Bter website, even for previous withdrawals I made that worked fine.

I've raised a ticket, but no response yet.

Anyway, it's very odd and I, for one, won't be sending anything else to them - just thought I should let people know.

Withdraw today 0.5 BTC
15 minutes

Withdraw today 0.5 BTC
15 minutes

I haven't used bter for a while but recenlty i have seen that they give you +1% when you deposit to them and then they take 1% when you withdraw from them which means they steal at least 0.0001% without doing anything, not good in general.

I was able to recover my coins today so it does work. When the problem happened I contacted support through chat on the website. It was in Chinese.
I jumped on google translate and asked for support in English. It took me ten minutes to get an English speaker who said they would fix the problem. It took 24 hours but I am OK now.
