OP: CentOS is pretty secure IMO; I use that for BTC-node and firewall related stuff. It's a great server platform. For all the lists of things you wanted to o, Puppy linux can work well and it can be installed to an old computer.

When I make translations of subs I usually use Aegisub, which suits best for me. I meant when I wanna make hardsubs on stuff. Downloading a couple of distros now.
