Title: can't recover electrum wallet with seed Post by: wudelrudel on October 24, 2015, 05:37:18 PM Hi electrum community,
I am trying to recover my electrum wallet with my seed. However, in the GUI variant the button stays grey no matter what I enter and I cannot continue. Running electrum from terminal trying to create a recovered wallet via electrum recover instantly gives Error: Invalid seed I am pretty much sure (well as sure as one can be) that my seed is correct, I checked that all the words of my seed are in both https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/lib/wordlist/english.txt (https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/lib/wordlist/english.txt) and in my local /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/electrum/wordlist/english.txt I am using electrum version 2.5.1, on Ubuntu 14.04, installed via sudo pip install https://download.electrum.org/Electrum-2.5.1.tar.gz what could I be doing wrong? thanks for your help Title: Re: can't recover electrum wallet with seed Post by: ThomasV on October 25, 2015, 09:28:21 AM There is no "electrum recover" command; the relevant command is called "electrum restore".
You probably made a mistake with your seed; The fact that words are in the list is not sufficient to ensure that a seedphrase is valid. However, I really think my seed is correct and I might be experiencing some weird letter count check error in electrum. Consider or please try to reproduce the following: I can generate a wallet with the first 13 words of the word list plus space and the first letter of the 14th word, 13 alone will not work. Code: Password (hit return if you do not wish to encrypt your wallet): |
