Works fine I have that combination in one of my machines 6950 first card 7970 the second due to the width of the cooler on it. Nothing special you have to do other than make sure your running the sdk 2.6 or newer otherwise the 7970 will not be seen for use by the system. Just one exception in case you were wondering, they will work just fine for mining but don't expect to use them *together* for gaming. You will be able to use one of them if you want to play games, preferably the faster, but you won't be able to crossfire unmatched cards. I have heard of rare cases that people got unmatched cards to work with driver and software mods but they all took a performance hit. Just wanted to make sure you understood that part of it ;) Otherwise go for it, I've even mixed nvidia cards with amd before! Title: Re: Can two different NM, series GPUS work together? Post by: Hippie Tech on November 13, 2012, 03:21:18 PM I had to try a few times but got mine to go with the 460se as the main display in the 2nd 16x pcie slot.
