I might add that to my requirements list. *EDIT I've done some reading, and it seems getting a document notarized is nice, not absolutely necessary. Lawyers do it, but they will charge for it. A non-notarized promissory note carries legal weight as well. And for the relatively small amounts I'm dealing with, I'm going to forgo the notarization. In that case, I suggest seeing a lawyer to see if your promisory note will hold up in court.
