Title: Watches
Post by: Seal on November 03, 2012, 03:14:05 AM
I'm interested in seeing what watch everyone on here wears. Show off them off here.

I usually don't wear watches, but I have a few Vostok 3aka3 (Soviet military issue) "Zakaz" watches that I picked up over the years.

When I wear one, it is usually one of the Komandirskies- like this one (Not my pic, but I have one just like it).

I have a Polar HR monitor for when I go to the gym. It's a nice little gizmo. I'll post a pic eventually.

I don't wear a watch as I use the clock that's on my perl, but I do have several lying around the house. A few rolexes and an explorer.

Welder K26.  This watch is rather large.

I haven't worn one in close to three years now thanks to the cell phone. In fact, I just made a comment a couple hours ago about not having a single clock in the house with the exception of the microwave which is always wrong. Another thing absent in this household is an actual calendar. Many a time we ask one another what day of the week is it, whereupon the other party starts hunting their phone to answer the question. All this reminds me of a book I read years ago entitled Momo.

If I knew how to post images I'd post two pictures of my Timex T2D491 Perpetual Calendar analog style watch, which I purchased several years ago and which has given me steadfast, loyal service in some moderately tough conditions. I think I've hiked 1500 miles with that watch strapped, upside-down to the left front strap my backpack. It was upside-down so that the face would read right-side-up when I looked down my chin (and slightly to the left) for the time.

People tended to notice that upside-down watch. Some thought it was an altimeter. It did look a bit like that.

Perhaps somebody could let me know how to post an IMG. I assume I'm supposed to fill in that code somehow, but I don't know where the photo itself goes.

Okay, I'll try again. Here's my watch as it looked when brand new!

It has stood up well but the strap is no longer the same color, or so smooth! The battery lasts a long time — a few years and it's easy to buy replacement batteries.

Interesting. I was not familiar with perpetual calendar watches.

I rock a Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea. Not my photo obviously but this is the watch. It's the most water resistant watch in the world, resistant to 3900m under the sea. Which is about 8x deeper than anyone has ever dived, haha.

And I don't even dive. Looks cool though eh?

This is the first good watch I've ever owned. Next off I'm looking for something very different: A Christiaan Van Der Klaauw. He makes these incredible, intricate astronomical timepieces. Check it out: http://www.klaauw.com/en/index_day.php

A little out of my price range for now, especially for the top models. One day though.
