Hi Annie here,

I've recently run into some really hard times and as a single mother (with an asshole ex) am looking to try to support my 3 year old child. I heard something on the news about these bitcoins, but i really don't understand much.

I hope i can learn something here.

:D

Hi Annie,

i am in the same position as you (ok, except that i am a male).

if you earn more money than your husband you can use bitcoins to hide your income from your ex (btw i dont do this, i pay for my ex regardless of how much i hate her).

bitcoins is essentially a store of value, but a very risky one.

i use bitcoins to save a little money for my child. 50% is EUR saving and 50% is BTC saving.

in germany you pay taxes for saving - so this saves me a little (i have to pay taxes as soon as i convert them back to EUR; but anyway... as i plan to hold them for a few years it'd save me a lot)

Welcome, Annie.

Just to clear up a possible misconception, bitcoin mining is by no means a "get-rich-quick" scheme or a way to make "free" money with your computer. That guy you mentioned was raided because bitcoin mining (on the scale necessary to earn a living from it) consumes a very large amount of electricity. Regardless of the scale of your intended operation, unless you have specialised (and expensive) equipment, the increased electricity cost will almost certainly exceed the value of the bitcoins you are able to mine. It is a highly competitive industry, and only the most efficient miners are able to make a profit from it. I'm not saying you shouldn't mine, just don't be surprised or disappointed if you find that you're unable to make any money from it.

as the above poster has mentioned, there isn't much money to be made mining BTC these days without a substantial investment in equipment. if you invent a time travel machine and go back about 3 years(let me bum a ride with you if you figure it out), it's a different story. if your computer has an ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5xxx-6xxx-7xxx video card(known as a GPU) then you can begin mining a small amount of BTC for profit at the cost of an increased electrical bill. otherwise, be prepared to invest money in order to enter this market.

edit/ps:  be prepared for people to call you a scammer and ask you to show boobs on the intarwebz since you're posting as a female, and as we all know, they don't exist on the intarwebz.

Damn, that's a rough thing for a toddler to have to deal with, let alone his parents having to get him through it.  My diabetes doc put me on insulin about 6 months ago.  Luckily, I'm hyperglycemic, and never experience "crashes" where I could pass out, but even a single nightly injection using my ClikStar injector was somewhat traumatic at first.   I guess a small blessing is that they diagnosed it very early, thus giving your boy every possible chance to have a semi-normal lifestyle (and very likely see a cure in his lifetime!)  Word of advice: make multiple copies of all the documentation regarding the pump if you travel. Prescription, receipts, manuals, EVERYTHING. those TSA cockmongers are getting worse every day.  The more paperwork you have showing it's a legit med device (don't even get me started on how often those monkeys look at my CPAP machine like it's a fucking alien device!), the smoother your travel experience will be.

Best wishes.

My little guy is amazing with it.... Due to his age the range is very wide.. we try to keep him in the 10's but will sometimes see him as high as 30... It's getting better over time as he's getting better at talking and letting us know how he feels.

We currently use Novolin NPH and Rapid acting insulin. he can have up to 6 injections per day but normaly it's 4. Our doctor told us it'll be better for him that he was diagnosed young vs when he's in his teens.

So far he is a champ, never cries or fights with us.... Both of his grand parents are diabetic so I believe that's why he got it... it really sucks.... but we're doing our best...
