Title: S7 Beeper Disable
Post by: ron7684 on October 29, 2015, 09:08:36 AM
I'm using an S7 for home mining. Today (at 3am) I noticed that the S7 will beep if there is no internet connection.

My issue: if my internet goes down there's nothing I can do, I'd prefer the S7 to just STFU and start mining once an internet connection is available again.

Is there any way to fully disable the S7 beeper?

I completely agree and wish this was an option within the software.  I use mine at home and there's nothing I can do if my internet provider drops my connection for a while.  And I sure don't want to know about it at 3 AM.

From what I've read online it seems that there hasn't really been a good way to do this on any of the Antminer devices.  That said, if anyone finds a way to do this without voiding the warranty, I'd love to know how.

If the speaker is on the outside, youmay be able to remove the cable to it. This shouldn't void the warrenty but it would be best to check your documents first. It may be useful to contact the Bitmain support to see if they can offer any information on this matter!

Do you realize that s-7's have overheated and died due to internet shutdown?

Do you realize that setting manual speed of 50% or so give you a speed of 3480 to 3600 rpm which would save your gear from dead internet overheating?

So don't kill the  speaker's  bell unless the fan is set manually to 50% or more.
