How are going to buy these when you are looking for a 5BTC loan with no collateral here -

Can you share additional photos of the case? It looks like there's a lid with glass cover. Are there cut out sections for the coin cases? Or are you using a case meant for something else for this purpose?

I don't consider the case to be "free" in this transaction - hence my interest in the details of this item that's the 5th piece in this bundled purchase.

Thanks.

Of course. My original photo leaves some ambiguity in regard to the case design now that I look at it. Below is a picture of the exact model from the website where I ordered the case. I can take pictures of my actual case when I get home if you would like but it is no different than the one below.

It fits the ANACS slabs extremely securely. The box can be tipped upside down and the slabs stay in place, it is definitely intended to display five slabs, not for any other purpose. Hopefully this helps to clarify. Let me know if you have any other questions  :)

I also have this case available if the buyer would prefer to have a 4 slab closed case instead of a 5 slab with a glass top.

Thanks very much for the additional information on the case. Unfortunately I think the 5 pieces are too much for my budget...I think I'm simply priced out of this market!

Good luck with your sale...

This guy has the exact same set for sale (his are MS69 though) and he's asking BTC17! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1196643.0)

I think you've got the best deal for this set on the forum!

Yeah absolutely. I appreciate the question as I'm sure others who have looked at this thread have wondered the same thing but haven't asked!

I would consider a deal without the display case but it wouldn't markedly change the price. Feel free to PM an offer, the worst I can say is no   :)

That MS69 set is about in line with what other MS69 silver sets have sold for recently. The bump up in ANACS grade commands a premium. I personally think my set is priced quite competitively for an individual who wants a full set of Casascius silvers but doesn't want to pay the steep premium for a one grade difference.  Can't go wrong with either set, it just depends on what the buyer is looking for.

How much do you think the ANACS stamp of approval adds to the price, what premium does ANACS command  for Casascius coins?

I have the set you're selling, I just don't have it graded. But honestly, most of these coins are of top quality. Were any really circulated to show wear or decrease mint value?

Good luck with your sale, I'm sure you'll do fantastic!

ANACS does extensive work to grade coins. I have seen anywhere from ms-64's to ms-69s sold publicly with some ms-70s being sold privately (blazed's 0.1 silver).

The grade on the coin determines markup normally. A ms-68 will be less than an ms-69, I believe on silver singles it can range anywhere from 0.2-0.8BTC depending on the sellers available.

Some people even crack open lower grades that they evaluate and try to get the luck of the draw from ANACs. For some it pays off. It all varies.

Just take a look at auctions and sales within the last 6 months to try and gauge market prices.

I respectfully disagree but I always appreciate getting other perspectives. Here's my take. None of these coins have been handled. Most are absolutely mint because they've gone directly from roll to case.

I don't think ANACS is doing  ANY "extensive work" to grade coins. They're  just getting extensively paid by all of us sending in our coins. And all we get is a hope that we end up with a grader that got laid last night and is in a good mood, handing out high grades.

Someone once wrote here  that  they don't even consider the quality of the sticker in their assessment - that's half the coin (and the one thing that could be easily looking mint or looking askew). It's interesting that I can pay  about BTC0.1 to get a coin graded and expect 8 times return on that expense. I mean, it's great for the seller but it's kind of fucked up, no?

To the OP - thanks for entertaining the discussion, we're keeping your thread on top of the first page of the board!

With your statement about the coins being handled, I sold a handled coin (Click here) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1186317.0) for lower than what it would have been if it were pristine. (I bought the coin from someone else.) Yes there are many people that did roll to case, but there were people that did not with the cas brass coins. Nowadays most, if not everyone, should be doing roll to case, or kept in roll or other protective enclosures for Bitcoin coins as well as fine metal coins.

I don't think ANACS is doing  ANY "extensive work" to grade coins. They're  just getting extensively paid by all of us sending in our coins. And all we get is a hope that we end up with a grader that got laid last night and is in a good mood, handing out high grades.
ANACs doing extensive work? Well I may have misstated that. From what I have heard, multiple people at ANACs grade the same coin, then the grade is determined by the multiple "experts / judges / robots that are stealing the private key off the back of coins / people".

Someone once wrote here  that  they don't even consider the quality of the sticker in their assessment - that's half the coin (and the one thing that could be easily looking mint or looking askew). Well to the sticker part, I believe that is true. I heard the same information.

But the 8 times return on expense is the risk the owner of the coin takes. In the coin trading world a higher quality coin is hard to get, depending on strikes of the coins, handling, and many more variables (*I believe but should be corrected if wrong). There were some series of coins that graded at a low chance of being perfect, while loads of them were graded at 68s and 69s.

That's just what I have seen anyways. But great to bounce thoughts off each other.

I have opened a few new rolls of casascius coins. I have treated all coins the same. Using gloves taken them from roll to flips, and submitted them straight for grading.

For each of the rolls I have done this for, the coins have recieved a range of grades. Generally the variance between the top and the bottom is 3 grades.

Not all rolls are equal. Not all coins in the same roll are equal.

Effectively MS67 and above are all 'mint'. The differences then have nothing to do with anything after they have come out of the roll, and everything to do with what happened getting them into the roll in the first place.

Casascius coins are no different to any other silver coins. They will each have a bell curve of grade distributions. The highest grades will generally always be the rarest. For any coins the market will decide the premium that the higher grades recieve.

Indeed, thank you all for the free bumps but in the future please ask questions about Casascius and ANACS in general by PM or in other threads so as not to clutter for sale threads. By all means post anything specifically related to the four coins I am selling to the benefit of interested buyers. I love to talk about this topic and answer questions but this is not necessarily the place to boost your post count. Thank you  :)

Due to several PM requests I've included individual prices for this set. I would obviously prefer to keep them as a set but feel free to PM offers  :)

What's your thinking on the mark up for the .5 brass coin?

At BTC3.3 it doesn't seem to align with the other prices, perhaps too much premium on that one (imo). Let me know if my chatter is not welcome and I'll shut up!

I'm basing it on the fact that that is what I originally paid for it a month ago. High grades of the 0.5 silvers are very hard to come by, if you look at recent for sale posts there are quite a few 1BTC all silver as well as gold b and 0.1BTC but no halves. I know this because I was bothering everyone I could on the forum looking for one because it was the last coin I needed to complete my MS68 set. Obviously I'm flexible and willing to negotiate with any interested buyers but that's a ballpark of what I'm looking to get.

Chatter about the items in my for sale thread is always welcome and I'm more than happy to answer any questions  :)

It is a 0.5 Silver not Brass (you are correct that would be a crazy price for a 0.5 Brass but not so much for a Silver)  The 0.5 Silvers, in my experience, are the most difficult 2013 Cas Silver to acquire (especially in a high grade).

Good luck with your sale Eodguy149.
