Could be good, could be nothing.  Who knows.  The thing is to be always open to ideas.

MS has been a train wreck of a company for ages now.. just when i think they are stupid they get dumber.

PS:
I meant i love Windows 7 but don't like 8 or 10 (mainly because of the Metro design faggotry)

I think the thing to get away from this is that a legit billion dollar company is trying to get involved in crypto which may be a good thing.

This move seems to me a bit of a rush action, as ETH is still in alpha or early beta. Of course it's a good time prom programmers to learn and get used to blockchain technology.

Microsoft has never been expert at discerning the best nascent new technologies, and always steals or copies those who already prove the new markets and technologies. For example, Xbox is stolen from Playstation. Windows is stolen from Mac. PCDOS (MSDOS) was stolen (http://www.bloomberg.com/bw/stories/2004-10-24/the-man-who-could-have-been-bill-gates) from CP/M via QDOS (http://forwardthinking.pcmag.com/software/286148-the-rise-of-dos-how-microsoft-got-the-ibm-pc-os-contract). Excel was stolen from Lotus 123. Silverlight was stolen from Flash.

Microsoft was a master of grabbing market share and then using every monopolistic means to sustain it. But in this new age of open source, the most open platforms win:

Thus Microsoft's business methodology is an archaic dinosaur.

So Microsoft selecting Ethereum is likely a the touch of death, same as it was for Microsoft embracing Nokia or anything else Microsoft has touched since open source platforms began to dominate.

Ethereum is a corporate model. It is not the be all, end all, and best solution to the block chain 2.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1219023.msg12831821#msg12831821). An upstart open source solution will slay the organizational morass (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1231817.msg12831937#msg12831937) that is Ethereum, because block chain tech isn't that complex (it doesn't require a huge corporate morass) and because creativity is borne in the individual.

agreed.

i see they have been transitioning to a lot of Android code
and some people on the web have speculated they may do their own distrib at some point..
i say that because it's another example.. Their Windows Phone OS is a flop.
like their fucking Zune ahahahha

Microsoft is able to spend a lot of money to develop Ethereum further. It might succeed this time with the help from community.
