Title: Another TV show that contain Bitcoin!
Post by: TheGrimm on November 01, 2015, 09:43:14 PM
We loved "Almost Human", with almost every episode having a bitcoin scene - woot woot.

Now I was watching "The Blacklist" and this weeks episode shows a agent on darkweb with payment listed at BTC.

Although I do hate that bitcoin keeps getting on shows because of the dark potential it has, almost every show is like this "he/she was killed, looks like bitcoin was payment for the hit,  it is anonymous and untraceable and no way to track it"

But I guess any exposure is good exposure for bitcoin :-D

Almost Human was great.  I recently saw bitcoin mentioned in Criminal Minds and pretty much for the same reasons, it was on the darkweb involving selling people.

It is always a moment when it pops up in shows I say to my wife look bitcoin and she just tbinks I'm crazy lol.

Just now in the Netherlands a documentary was aired about bitcoin with Roger ver giving out 120 euro in bitcoin.

Pretty cool to see bitcoin more on tv, acceptance and recognition is around the corner!

Seeing bitcoin on TV is a great event but preferably not associated with criminals, this will make some person avoid using bitcoin.
Anyway as I a always say, i don't see a difference between btc/fiat/gold...regarding the criminal activities, ''banning'' bitcoin will not stop crimes...

'Blindspot' mentioned it too in the latest episode (26th Oct), but again, not in a particularly positive context.  This one was about a "hacker" that designed an app to track government vehicles.

It is good that there are are more and more mainstream references to bitcoin, even if they are bad haha.

The movie "Dope" contains Bitcoin, though, as the title sounds, they use it for selling drugs. So I guess it puts Bitcoin in a negative light, or a positive light depending on the way you look at it.

Looks like bitcoin is entering the mainstream! Unfortunately it is usually linked to illegal activities and these really hurt the reputation of bitcoin.

No more negative than the Silk Road and Mt. Gox and we're managing that just fine...

Almost every tv show/movie which mentions bitcoin is used for bad purposes, i would love to see bitcoins used for some good purpose in tv shows/movies.
for ex: how easy it is to send money/bitcoins. this will bring positiveness to bitcoin.

It could taint the reputation and make the ordinary ppl more concentrated on the negative side. We need more positive exposure.

I did happen to watch that episode and I did like how they didn't have a complete noob view on bitcoins. The writer must've known atleast something about the whole decentralization and everything. I just hope shows like NCIS will keep their scripts off bitcoin cause that would just be an embarrassment.

I suppose one good aspect about both 'The Blacklist' and 'Blindspot' is that both tech-savvy characters were women (although it turned out the one in Blindspot probably wasn't actually using Bitcoin, but still).  At least it gives the impression that this new digital frontier isn't entirely male-oriented.  But some positive storylines where Bitcoin is shown being used for good purposes would definitely be welcomed.
