Title: Did I buy at good price?
Post by: ibrahim11 on November 02, 2015, 06:19:38 PM
Hello, I currently have just over 2.5 btc. I bought one of the btc a few months ago at 240USD but s***ty VirWox fees made the price 300USD. I felt a bit down because the price was not going above 300USD until recently. So was it a good investment? So far I have invested 1292usd in bitcoin and have 2.6btc. I am thinking to buy some more now. But is it a good time? The price may go down after silk road's bitcoins are auctioned off.

Noone knows... At the end you have to live with your decision, to buy or not to buy.

You're good  ;) just see how the auction turns out, we may have a sell off, but I think we will be going up through the halving.
as a tip, don't advertise how many btc you have.

Well my suggestion is to sell half of the bitcoins at current rate . And save the rest of bitcoins for future no one knows whether the price goes up or comes very down.. You bought at good rate i guess its the time to sell .

If you're willing it sit on those coins & HODL them for a few years then buying at 300 USD is a ridiculously low price.

We'll most likely see 450 even as soon as next summer as a result of the halving, have patience.

1 btc was bought at 300USD

1btc was bought at 539USD

Oh my .... When you bought that 0.6 and 1 btc though? Also you should buy bitcoins from a local seller or from a better exchange where the fees is'nt that much .  Well still i say sell the 300$ (1btc) part and save the 1.6 btc .. And hope for the bitcoin to reach a better price.

I bought 0.6btc from MtGox before if went bankrupt. I'm happy that I didn't loose any money there. And I bought 1 btc at 740 USD about more than a year ago, probably 2 years ago.

I'm thinking to buy some more now. Should I?

Well , Its a hard choice to buy at this rate if you have some extra money then just buy 1 or a half of bitcoin and save it . Again hope for the bitcoin to reach 400 or 500$

i think the people or group will hold the coins till after the block halving. at least, that's what i would do. selling them right now isn't a good idea unless they buy the coins well below market price, which is highly unlikely.

It all depends on when you sell.

Somebody who bought at $600 and sold at $1000 bought at a good price.

Somebody who bought at $300 and sold at $250 did not.

Your story hasn't been written yet.

Your last buy was good considering the current price, but you are at loss right now.

Your mean buy price is  516.8. You need to be patient or take some risks if you want recover your loss, without being affected by emotions

That's the dilemma everyone is having who wants to buy now.Fact is you will never be sure when it is a good entry point. The course might fall a bit and you will be pissed that you've invested too early.
The price might keep rising and you will be pissed that you haven't accumulated more.
The good thing is you're already on the bandwagon. So don't worry too much and whatever decision you will make, live with after that.
If you're in for the longterm I believe it doesn't matter.
Now it's up to you buddy.Good luck! ;)

It depends if you are a long term investor or a short term investor. If your gameplan is buy and hold for 5+ years then yes, it's a safe deal. If you are here to make quick bucks, then the rich of screwing ups is always higher. If I was a daytrader or something more of a short investor, I would hold for the entire november month to see where this is going. Fortunately I don't really care since I go very long term and im not worried about downtrends.

bitcoin should be seen as a long investment, if you're one of those that are waiting for 10k or more, then 300 and 350 are tiny number in comparison

everything under your last target it's a good buy opportunity

You should buy more bitcoin. The 200-400$ area is like the 5-15$ area long time ago. Soon, we will never see these zones again, never ever.

Well since the fee for only 1 bitcoin is 60 usd,
Then it is very high, better buying altcoins or bitcoin from localbitcoins.
I think that it was a good investment and you can sell now higher or hold to sell even more high.

My friend nobody knows this, and no one can tell you anything for sure. We all have our own hunch and we are following it. You should do the same as well.

I believe that Bitcoin will be huge and that its current prices are very low. That's why I am here. You should invest depending on your current financial situation. If you have money on the side that you can live without, then buy. But don't buy short-term. Be ready to hold it at least few years. I would say 3 years at least.

I may be getting a big cash injection (1500USD) next august 2016 from my parents for my exam results. I want to invest it in bitcoin but I'm worried that in august 2016 the price could have alresdy skyrocketed due to halvening

Probably the price will be increased by August 2016
The halving period will directly affect the price of bitcoin.
I think that you bought at a good exchange rate, maybe you can trade a bit to increase the profit.

Prices go up and down. At the moment you have 2.6BTC so you really want the price to be low so you can get some more cheap coins, before profiting from a rise. Luckily for you Bitcoin goes up and down in cycles. We are on an up cycle this may stop today or carry on until BTC reaches the moon, but there will be a down cycle. I always believe best to sell on an up cycle and buy on a down cycle.

I managed to buy 0.12 btc yesterday at 365USD but I wanted to buy more but don't have enough money in my bank account yet. The price has now increased to 410USD at time of writing this post. I'm not sure if I should buy at this price or not. I still need to wait for some money to come into my account.

As you said we have to wait for months because due to christmas and new year all countries will go up in currency rate. In the meanwhile you save some more and you can open savings after this peak period. then only it would helpful for you Else its like wasting your own effort and hard earned money.

I think it is not a bad investment at all. You can sell above 300 (which has happened recently) for some profit and even possibly rebuy lower. If you mean "long term" well, it is very likely that BTC gets over that price consistently, but nothing is 100% sure.

Honestly 1262 for 2.6 BTC seems to be quite expensive.

Your average price per BTC IS 496 USD, the current price for BTC Is 311 so you have lost 483.4 USD on your purchase.

Even if you need it, I strongly advice you not to sell. There are a lot of things going on, but if after the halving in june BTC will not go to 400-450.. a lot things will changes. Miners will abandon shop etc. So i have a strong feeling 400 USD is possible when the halving occurs.

Here is a nice countdown, so you know when to act :)

Good luck mate.

Only time will tell you if you've done a great decision or not. But everything think that price will rise within the next year, so, don't worry and wait until price is at least 1000$ !

Although you are in loss right know, hold on to your bitcoin. The thing is, eventually the price will recover.. and fall.

Make sure you don't your BTC locked by then.

If you buy more now at these prices, your good price will be even better. Whicj looks like you've already done and using localbitcoins too which is better than the extra $60 vig of whatever it was you used before. So good job. *thumbsup.gif

well you paid ~300 per coin and the price right now is about 310 per coin so you're in the clear with a little bit.

wasnt really a great price to buy at, i would have bought when the price was <250
