Title: Bitcoin Friday, the fallout: Merchants how did we do ?
Post by: Isokivi on November 10, 2012, 03:00:13 PM
I for one can report a record amount of sales for btctrinkets, nothing drastic especially since I've been around for just two weeks... but 60% growth when compared to average day shipments.

Had low inventory, but it all sold out before I woke up :)

I believe Jon (Coinabul) is speaking with the merchants to get some good figures on performance and I'm sure he'll be posting in the forum within a couple days.

As a merchant if it were monthly I for one could not offer 20% discounts, but twice a year for example would be nice.

Yeah, twice a year would be good. Once a year is too long in Bitcoin time :)

Well, since we're talking bitcoin time, every 25k blocks (roughly 6 months)? Or using round numbers every 32256 blocks (that's 16 times 2016)? :)

We had huge success and it was by far our most successful "bitcoin" day. I would most certainly be open to doing it twice a year. I think most merchants can agree that once a month would be wayyy too much hah. If anything bitcoin friday did a great job of spreading awareness of what can be purchased with bitcoins.

Here's a bunch of quotes from merchants, including me: http://codinginmysleep.com/bitcoin-friday-results/

I had as many sales in one day as I usually have in a month, and I sold out very quickly too, meaning that I could've probably sold even more.

Yeah, once a year isn't enough, but maybe have one event each season with a different theme.
