Even though I don't especially need the loan since I'll have extra cash tomorrow I decided it would be a good way to build up a positive reputation for the community I hope to participate in for the long haul. I am in the process of complying to his terms for identification and adding this thread is part of the requirements.

"Hey look, I paid all these loans so I've got to pay this one." Then just go into hiding. Like always I think this is up to the person loaning the BTC. If he/she wants to give them money for a new rig, build rep, or even go out and pop some bottle with a couple buddies -- So be it. As long as they think the person will pay back that's all that matters. IMHO anyways. FWIW, I listed his threads up in the "How to spot a scammer" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119896.0) thread as soon as they went up. And I also initially flagged his account in the "Post-count pumpers (soon to be scammers)" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119085.0) thread (albeit not for post-count pumping). I gave him photo identification so I don't see why it would benefit me to scam anyone.
