Title: Does anyone really think Terracoin is a threat to Litecoin Post by: crazy_rabbit on November 11, 2012, 09:29:56 PM I personally don't but I've heard a couple people mention that the two are very similar once you get past the algo-differences.
I think once ASICs arrive ifTerracoin is still around at least someone will be tempted to put their ASIC on Terracoin once in awhile if only just to blow the difficulty through the stratosphere. Litecoin will remain a refuge for the GPU miners and FPGA miners. Although Litecoin was supposed to be a CPU only coin, it looks like it will remain for the near future at least an ASIC unfriendly (although of course not impossible if someone really wanted) chain. Thoughts? Scrypt is more memory intensive than SHA-256 and needs more speed.

IMHO there should be some normalization of alt coin exchange rates based roughly upon difficulty, market cap, and block reward.
