Title: Newbie Question: Escrow in the Marketplace?
Post by: johnniewalker on November 12, 2012, 01:03:59 AM
Hi all,
I'm a newbie (just registered). I've been checking out the market place (even though I can't post there yet :/)-is there any sort of Escrow System available? It doesn't seem like there is one built into this site, but are there any external services? Particularly ones that don't charge a ridiculous percentage, and ones with a good reputation? I plan to do some buying/selling on here eventually, and of course would feel safer with an Escrow System in place. Thanks!

I wish this did exist. Once I get out of here I plan on offering some services in the marketplace but am unsure as to how to manage the transactions so that both parties feel comfortable.

You can use BTCrow as knight mentioned. I've never used it, but have never heard complaints against it.

You can also find individuals willing to handle escrow. I recently began doing escrow again (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=120218) after it seemed like many people stopped offering free escrow.

Alternately, sites like bitmit and the notorious Silk Road already have an automated escrow system built in at no extra charge.
