Title: Shipping Mining Parts
Post by: Genrobo on June 05, 2011, 09:11:20 PM
Just ordered some new mining parts and used UPS's guaranteed 3 day shipping.
The order was placed on the 2nd, their estimated delivery date is on the 8th.
Doesn't seem like 3 days to me, but then again I'm bad at math.
2-8 = 7 days
- weekend(2 days)
= 5 days
What the hell is the guarantee about?

When was it shipped? Order date doesn't matter. If Newegg shipped on Friday, you should get it by 7th or 8th depending on where you live and what warehouse it was shipped from. Mine usually get to my house a day before the UPS estimation if it's shipped from the same coast.

2-8 = 7?

(ah, I think you meant dates there rather than numbers.)

It was shipped on the 3rd, but still the 8th would be an extra day.

Also, from the 2nd to the 8th is 7 days.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th

See, there's 7 dates there.

"Shipped on the 3rd" could mean it was dropped off/picked up at the end of the day on the third which means it's likely sitting in a warehouse until Monday.

You should be able to see exactly where it is if you have the tracking number and track it through UPS' site.

2nd won't count. It was shipped on the 3rd, minus weekend (4th/5th), in transit on 6th and delivered on 7th would be 3 days.. Don't trust UPS estimation, their logistics suck.

Yeah, it's been sitting in Nashville for 2 days.

Yeah, they'll do that.  I hate that, but if it's not picked up till late in the day it doesn't get off the truck Friday night until after 5 PM which is 'outside of business hours'.  So I'm assuming that means they don't start their business day clock till Monday @ 8 AM.  I assume since you said Nashville you ordered from Newegg, that $2.99 "Rush Fee" sucks but it's worth it if you're in a rush, they'll get it out asap when you check little box.

I've checked it before and it didn't help me.
From now on I'm ordering with 2 day shipping, and if they don't get it to me in 2 days, I'm pitching a fit.

I've actually found Amazon Prime to be a good deal and have generally found most of the same items from Newegg available there.  With Prime you pay ~$70 a year and automatically get 2 day shipping on anything you buy.  Plus you can upgrade anything to overnight shipping for $3.99/Item.

I still always check Newegg first, but have been finding that often I'm finding the same item on both sites for right around the same place.

Amazon prime is amazing. Amazon in general is worth a tiny bit of premium for their fast shipping, and excellent customer service. Amazon often price matches newegg too (not always, but often), which is nice. You won't get the same as their big sales, but c'est la vie. Only 3.99 for overnight too, great.
