Title: antminer s7 temp reading "0"
Post by: alonazi1980 on November 07, 2015, 11:40:58 AM
Hi everybody

I got 2 ANTMINER S7 BATCH 3
after one day work , one of them not reading temp ( "0" ) and comes too much hot
the other temp ( 52 )
i made speed fan at 80% to Avoid burning device
is that means temperature sensor not work or there is another problem

If both boards are hashing then sounds very much like a temperature sensor failure. I would raise a Ticket with Bitmain.

Worth unplugging and replugging the data cable to the hash board.

It's most likely the sensor that's broken. Does it prevent you from mining? I know most recent Bitmain miners (S3 and up) have an option to ignore temperature shutdowns but I don't know about the S7.

Might want to check your cables and fix the environment in which your miners are operating.

I try with that and nothing change
I think the problem Temp sensor need to fix
but how to do that

Underclock to freq 550 set fans to 65% the fan rpm should be over 3500 rpm.

Also the room should be under  90 f

You don't really need temp sensor if you do what I say.

It's 65f in that room. Also, fans were never throttling since it's a cool room.

So i'm having the same exact problems.  I've opened a ticket and still waiting, as they only reply once a day, it's like watching snails crawl.

have either of you heard back from bitmain on what's happening here?

I'm getting a reading of 0, and now it has resulted in one board beeping and stoped hashing altogether, it only resumes once i disconnect that board.  But i'm afraid others will follow.

I've updated the firmware, and tried any sort of reboot i can think of.

i have also increased the fan speed to 100%  and nothing works

Exactly what mine was doing, aside from the being on a different board.  I had board 1 with temp and none of the others.

Is your machine also blinking and beeping at you?... I see it's not hashing like mine.

I sent them an email, and after realizing i'm only getting 1 reply back a day, i entered a ticket also on their "support center", it has gone unanswered so far.

In the meantime, my other miner is also showing up all 0s for the temp reading, so i'm no messing with it yet, until i get more feedback from the one that's currently shut down.  In order to prevent any further damage, but i'm wondering if i need to send both back at this point.

Please let me know if you hear anything and i'll do the same

That's not good news!

Mine does not beep, but it's flashing led's. The buzzer works because when I did the button-factory-reset it did the beep.
Prolly is a design flaw and bitmain has many requests so it will be a long wait....

Mine is batch 1, 4.86.

What are the rpms?  100 %  should be over 4000

And you should have two numbers for two fans.

fan1 at 4,440 and fan2 at 4,080

i have gotten word from bitmain a few times now and they are having me send back 3 boards out of 6.

they said it's a problem with the temperateu detector on the hash boards.

now i appreciate their follow-up and the fact that they seem to be able to fix this for me.

But in the meantime, i have to cover shipping, plus i have 2 miners down to hashing.  At the very least they should cover shipping, as i'm already losing money as it is.

Not cool

I think the best solution is contacting to bitmain to change your "sensor"
