Title: House in Tijuana, Mexico
Post by: RonnieP on June 06, 2011, 01:41:01 AM
I have a friend who is selling his house in TJ and is willing to accept bitcoins. The person has to be a Mexican citizen due to the location. It is a 4 bedroom townhouse with a view of the ocean. More details are available upon request. He says the house has approx $100K USD value.

I will help the cause.  My wife is from Mexico.  Of course, I'd need the community to foot the bill.

100K? sounds like a dump, then again it's mexico it could be a mansion.  Assuming the value of bitcoins gets to $20 by then thats 5k BTC,  I'm sure plenty of people around here have that.

I already own a house, and I doubt the bank I got the loan from will be accepting bitcoins for mortgage payments anytime soon :P

I thought the Mexican government changed that last year or so?  I have rental in Acapulco, I was given the option to buy it out right as a US citizen, just would have to pay the regular "hacienda" tax if I owned it.  Maybe it was just Guerrero.  But I would think Baja would have same.  $100K is like $1 million+ pesos.  I guess being so close to the US is why its so expensive.

The person has to be a Mexican citizen due to the location.

Sounds like racial discrimination to me!

Unless Mrowl is right (I'd really like a link plz) It's Mexican law that property within 50 miles of the coast can't be owned by foreigners.... My friend isn't discriminating against anyone and will sell the house to any interested party, but I'd hate to see someone buy the house and have it seized by the Mexican government! That wouldn't be cool at all. It's just full disclosure to mention the it because some people might not know. BTW, I told him to hurry up with the pics today, and he said the ones he has are from when he was living in it (and it is a rental now). He's going back down there this week and will take some new pics of the inside and out and I will post them as soon as I get them.

My wife is from Mexico also, but If I wait a few months, I might be able to buy a house for 50 BTC.

at 10%/day appreciation, I'll get 100x my buy-in in 49 days.
