Title: SCAMMED BY JAKEZ SOLVED!
Post by: librty on November 13, 2015, 08:44:15 PM
What happened: I sold him my xbox live 13 month code. I went first because I am a new member. He took the code, and said he would pay. He then stopped responding. After, he said he will pay me when he sells it, which I did not agree to. He told me he sold it, and that the buyer is saying that it does not work. He is lieng because it is still for sale on his bitify account https://bitify.com/auctions/gift-cards/xbox-121-subscription-207556/, and the code is still showing up as working. Look at the chat logs below for proof. It has been 4 days, still no payment. :

He still has not replied to me, or sent me the money for the code he took from me.

Lesson learned: Always use an escrow.

But relax, it hasn't been 24 hours yet. I think he'll come through with the deal as his account is worth more than $20.

Wait for another few days and we'll see.

First of all you should wait for the proof that the codes are invalid or fake. Also ask  how much time he needs to proof that cards are invalid.Give him at least a week.

Its get weird when no response. Its means something wrong. We should wait for him.

Honestly i don't think he will ruin that account just for $20 as his account worth more than that.

He was last active just 14 hours ago. You should try contact him again.

If you look at his trust feedbacks he has a ton of positive feedbacks. He is also a senior member so his reputation is probably worth more than the item you sold him.

If nothing works out and you have sufficient proof that he's not coming back again there is a chance that you can contact YoBit to forward his sig payments, although if he has made no posts, tough luck.

I can't believe that you got scammed by a Sr. Member only for 20 dollars, his account is worth more that 20 dollars so I really don't see the point.

Even so he has not handled this deal well at all. He was trying to MITM trade and that should not be OPs problem. Marking him red for now until he replies and this gets sorted.

I just want to put my 2-cents in here.
I have dealt with Jakez personally on many occasions and purchased hundreds of dollars of BTC from him. I always send first and he always delivers.
I can't imagine he would actually scam for $20, and I'm sure matters will be handled properly.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I remember specifically asking you if I could purchase an XBL code from you and you told me you don't sell the codes...

I am saying that it is not like Jakez to disappear when there's a discrepancy occurring about his reputation or transactions.
I am simple saying "my 2-cents in here" as I have already made clear.
I'm not saying you're a liar, but what I am saying is that this seems extremely out of character for him when he's had ample opportunity to scam for much higher amounts.

I have explained to him that where i sold this card that guy requested for a refund and i need some time to sort that out. Because this is my first deal with him and i bought many xbox codes, amazon cards and exchanges from many users and some time few of them sent me invalid cards and i lost lot of money there. I can sent the 20 USD its not a big deal. I asked him for his wallet i will make the payment right away. I wasn't disappeared and i was in some personal emergency and i thought its better to take 2 days off from all deals. For those who dealt with me personally know that i wont scam just like this :), Because i have made lot of deal here. But the card is still not sold due to the fact the support ticket is still open in the site to get it resolved. Anyways i will make the payment for this deal and please understand the situation before opening a report.

Did you see what i have said to him in Skype ? A refund request is processing on the xbox card that he provided, I need to get solved that to make the payment. Still the card may be good, I'm selling this in a top game selling site with other cards and keys, If its done without any problem then i will release the payment fast, Here it was in a refund status due to some reason and its need to be solved. In the meantime after sending that message i went  out of town and i was unavailable for last 2-3 days, i thought he could wait but the case was different as you can see here now.

I tried to tell everyone not to jump the gun about calling Jakez a scammer, because I knew that the only thing that could keep him from resolving an issue around here, especially for such a small amount would have to be something serious.

Thanks for clearing things up Jakez, and you should never rush to make a scam report because I'm sure this could've been handled smoother :P

I don't blame ya. Did he at least say why it took 6 days?

A warning should be kept so others know they are getting themselves in a MITM deal.

The gun was not jumped at all here and OP did the right thing. MITM trades are always bad and Jake should have had the funds to cover it rather than making OP wait. This was poor trading on Jakez part...

On what way you put the warning. Did you go through entire thread ? I have clearly said to him through PM that the user where i sold asked for a refund in my site by saying code which is not working, and  i have to wait till that sorted. I have asked for some time to get sort this thing. Still the code hasn't been confirmed but i released the payment due to this thread.

I understand that 6-days is an extremely long time to wait for a resolution from a member regarding an instant transaction, and I totally can understand why the scam accusation was reported. I am not trying to say that it was unwarranted, but what i am saying is that I am sure Jakez entered this trade with the best intentions.

I do not think a warning should be displayed in Jakez trust, sh*t happens and he's standing with the shovel and that's gotta count for something. He deals honestly, but made an admitted mistake. I'm sure in the future he will handle things differently.

EDIT : Neutral trust is fair, though and I see no problem with that.

I had and i have always have the fund for the deals. I have made a similar deal in bitify for some xbox and released escrow once i received the code. Once i put the codes in my site few of them were used. So i lost some money when i contacted back in Skype and there was no response. I will always ask some time for xbox and game keys for getting verified and sold. This time it took some time more but i sent a PM by asking some extension. After that i went out of town for some personal emergency for the few days and its delayed again. Why i asked for the extension i clearly stated above.

Thanks for supporting in the entire thread :). There was a proper reason for why i have delayed the payment. There was an issue with the code as per the user support ticket in the site where i sold the card. Regarding that i have sent him a message, from that day itself i went out for an emergency where i didn't have a chance to access the forum. In the meantime he created the thread.

As I said before, I am just happy to see that all has been resolved. Alls well that ends well, and hopefully Master-P can update his trust and have you back on your feet ASAP!

I can generally tell whether a user has bad intentions or not, and in your case I have only ever seen good business tactics. I hope your emergency has been taken care of to the fullest and doesn't trouble your life any longer.

Mis-communication can be a burden D:

You didn't make sure the code was valid before reselling it, before paying for the code yourself? What if whoever bought the code from you lied? You did a MITM deal, was librty aware of this?

These deals are risking. Next time I suggest you validate the code yourself, pay and then resell unless the original seller is fully aware that he will be paid only after you resell the code.

Codes were valid when he sold, but on my site the user raised a support on the code and the ticket was in progress. I have requested for the proof but he didn't send that yet. I thought i could send the money once its resolved. But he was in a hurry and i was away.

You will be the one to take the blame being the man in the middle if anything goes wrong. I suggest you stop doing this or expect a scam accusation or negative feedback when a deal goes bad.

Usually codes are getting sold within minutes. This time they raised the support ticket for that particular code and everything delayed. I have made lot of deals here without any issue, this was our first deal and i took the precaution.

Yes but I did not agree to wait until you sold the item to receive my payment. Also, codes can be verified instantly on Microsoft website without redeeming. That is why I thought you scammed me, you didn't reply to me for 6 days

Once our conversation started i clearly mentioned that i need some time for getting its sold in the site. Once its sold they have raised the support ticket and i should wait to get the status updated or else i'm going to lose that money. So i waited.

I never agreed to that, you told me after I sent you the code. Also you said you need time to validate the code, not to sell it. Validation is instant.

This is now a private argument. Although, to some, it may be entertaining, please message each other via PM as there is no point to write this here when you are just talking to each other, is there? Also, now this is resolved, please lock the thread?
