Title: BED, the Bitcoin Escort Database
Post by: Sir Lagsalot on November 16, 2015, 01:36:20 PM
Announcing BED, the Bitcoin Escort Database

Looking for an erotic service provider who accepts Bitcoin? Go to BED (http://coinlife.me/BED.htm), the first Bitcoin Escort Database!

Simply browse to your location then click an escort’s name or agency to reach a site with her images and contact details.

Why BED?

Search engines fail at cataloguing social media and online classified adverts, where escorts usually advertise their services. For example, the Google query “Bitcoin escorts” finds articles on Bitcoin’s growing presence in the adult industry - but no actual contacts beyond a couple of UK agencies!

BED (http://coinlife.me/BED.htm) currently lists 104 adult female escorts across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania! South American and African listings are no doubt coming soon. Finally, BED (http://coinlife.me/BED.htm) is free to view and listing services is also free!

Improve BED

BED’s funding is derived from limited ads and affiliate links to privacy-respecting Bitcoin exchanges. If you know of a Bitcoin company or exchange which should (not) be included, kindly get in touch.

If you know an escort who’d benefit from listing her services or accepting Bitcoin, please refer her to BED (http://coinlife.me/BED.htm).

If BED proves popular, the intention is to switch to a decentralised platform with expanded functionality. Get in touch if you’d like to help or donate: 19p4sbWiRdTRsimXWtJPphKfo2CcUFeeXf

BED’s Purpose

Incorporating the adult industry will spread Bitcoin among users with an economic interest in maintaining privacy / fungibility. Greater adoption and support for censorship-resistance can only help Bitcoin.

As for helping sex-workers; darknet markets have proven that Bitcoin can achieve significant harm reduction in areas where government prohibition leads to worsened outcomes. Indeed, Bitcoin has already helped numerous escorts following VISA and Mastercard’s embargo of Backpage. Without Bitcoin, many independent escorts would have been forced onto the streets, where the risks are far greater.

Feedback

Feedback regarding the site is welcome!

interesting idea and maybe this will grow to something bigger (haha, yes i know... :D)

the real killer app would be indeed to make it a decentralised platform in the future.

Precisely what bitcoin needs, yet another sleaze-ball developing another sleazy use for the system with associations to criminal activity.  I can just see the headlines now.  wtf?  With all the really good uses out there, why do you insist on chasing this garbage?

Very interesting project you have here... it will most certainly attract some attention. After all SEX is one of the biggest and oldest professions on the internet.  ::)

Just make sure you list only verified Escorts within the legal Age. Backpage got in huge trouble for hosting or allowing listing of people who were under age and also human trafficking.

I like the name you chose for the service ---> Bitcoin Escort Database  ;D ;D ....Keep it legal.

People probably insist on this because it's "the easy way" to promote Bitcoin... Sex or sexuality sells and it was predicted all along this would happen. Not trying to defend anything, but at least at first glance there's nothing illegal with this (this is probably jurisdiction dependent, of course)

There will probably be more and more sites like these in the near future especially with the news that this kind of thing has been having

Yeah, I'm dreaming of a mobile app which handles the whole process from A to Z in an easy, anonymized way. The only friction involved should be the sexy kind!

America is not the world, prostitution is legal in some form or another throughout most of the world. Thus, not "criminal activity".

You might be able to set something up on OpenBazaar at some point.

The idea is nice although the site itself needs some modifying in order to make it look much professional and nice looking

1) Even though this link is not the landing page of your website, it's still the landing page of the Escort Database your trying to introduce and it really looks crowded for some reason and the white background blend with the chosen colors for the tables, does hurt the eyes (too much white is not good specially when one of the background table colors are already white)

2) On the Asia tab, all the information's are repeated twice

3) Too much empty space on the end of each tab pages (Except in Europe tab)

Look, prostitution's the world's oldest - and therefore most resilient - profession. It's the honey badger of work! So it just makes sense to link it to Bitcoin. And if Bitcoin can make things safer and easier for clients and providers, that's a really good use.

Prostitution is also legal in America: Nye county, Nevada.  So your anti American bash failed.

Exactly zero of the whores listed on his website are in locations where it is legal.  Even if it were 'legal' - it remains just another very sleazy use of bitcoin which brings further ill repute to the community.

1) What colours and layout would you recommend? I'd like to make it as easy to browse as possible.

2) Yeah, that's because the lovely ladies of Bangkok Happy Time will travel throughout Asia or receive visitors in Thailand! It'll probably look clearer when there's more data to enter between Asia and Thailand.

3) Can you explain what you mean, maybe with a screenshot? I've only tested it in Firefox so far and it looked consistent across pages.

When the internet first got mass adoption people said half the content on it was sex related. The same's true about video recorders, when they first got mass adoption half the content played on them was sex related. People will inevitably use Bitcoin for sex related payments, and BED is probably the first of many sites offering Bitcoin escort information,

1) Honestly speaking I'm not good with coding stuff (only know basic html) and I couldn't find where should I re-edit the color on the source code of your website so not sure If it would be a good match but maybe for the background #4e6f82 and for the tables itself, the white and light blue is fine

The name is pretty good to be frank, clever use of initials but I still think Bitcoin is not a better alternative than cash for such thing. I mean sure, you can easily tumble the coins, but it's too much hassle, why not just pay with cash?

We need more fungibility with Bitcoin, before one feels safe paying such service with it. Of course when cash is removed by governments Bitcoin will be the king of all of this, but we need more fungibility nonetheless.

Yeah, it's a good point. From the client side, especially those concerned with privacy, cash remains the best option. Sure, you can tumble your coins or send them through Monero as I recommend but cash is just less hassle.

It's on the provider side that Bitcoin offers better value than cash. Providers don't have to worry about accepting counterfeit cash or becoming a target for criminals by storing lots of cash. I'd estimate a popular escort could easily accumulate $10,000+ in a week. That's a tempting target, especially as in many places escorts are unlikely to seek help from law enforcement. Banking such amounts also presents a big problem in areas where the laws are unfriendly. Also, the nature of escort work makes physical security difficult. If women are worried about security, they must hire a bodyguard or work for some tough guy who takes a big cut of their earnings.

Bitcoin reduces these risks and costs for escorts, so in time I expect they'll offer Bitcoin discounts. Discounts will make it worthwhile for clients to spend the extra 5 minutes it takes to set up an anonymous Bitcoin payment. It'll take time and work to get this process started but in the end everyone wins.

So...the company is selling equity shares in their company...which is completely anonymous and purposefully makes sure nobody can track them down.

This can be done openly and transparently via the blockchain. Just creating a website and hiding is not the way to start a company that illegally accepts securities investments.

Well I mean, the company is already made to do illegal things. Why not do illegal things in an illegal way while simultaneously keeping themselves safe from persecution?
