I heard there starting to ship. Anybody getting one and what are you planning on using it for? I still do not see the purpose of this 21 machine, at least for ordinary crypto users. Anyone who can shed some light, pls do. I don't really see a purpose for anyone, unless one wants to have something, different, a novelty :) Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: SFR10 on November 16, 2015, 10:43:21 PM It's more suitable for developers and I don't see really the point for a regular user to purchase this product and to add to that, it's really over price with the specs it has so if your not a developer then you better look away but overall it's nice to see the first BTCitcoin computer popping out finally
Some info's incase someone needs it: http://www.amazon.com/21-INC-21BC1-Bitcoin-Computer/dp/B014RD021C Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? I don't really see a purpose for anyone, unless one wants to have something, different, a novelty :) Same here, way too much money. If I was an early investor who was loaded, I would totally buy tho. Beside the actual practical use, I would just collect an item of each of those Bitcoin related technologies. I am under the impresion that in some years, the first miners, this thing, trezor.. will be really valuable collector items. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Envrin on November 16, 2015, 11:26:40 PM I'm confused. I never knew hardware had anything to do with firing off and listening to txs over the bitcoin network. Whatever, all the best to them I guess. Quite the gimmick though. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Meuh6879 on November 17, 2015, 12:18:31 AM the problem is the price of this device ... you can build an atom motherboard+RAM+SSD and 12v 10A supply for less and buy an U3 after this (on the same supply).

And you could make U3 run on rpi with no difficulty and little to no technical knowledge. Also I don't think the purpose of this machine is to get revenue from mining as much as utilizing smart contracts. So the average cryptocurrency user would have actually nothing to do with it. The hashing power of that machine is so low, that it won't likely roi on itself. But we never know, now do we. I'm not the target audience for this product so I think I'll skip this one for now. Maybe future.http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Jetway-NC9KDL-2550-Intel-Atom-D2550-Dual-LAN-Mini-ITX-Motherboard-LVDS-HDMI-/00/s/NjAwWDYwMA==/$T2eC16hHJIIE9qTYMbO1BQSoO7C+Jw~~60_35.JPG Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? It is the dumbest fucking product ever. 21 says: 'it is intended to give you a steady stream of bitcoins'. WTF?? A $3 block erupter does the same thing. Calling it a 'dev kit' does nothing to improve its utility. That damn thing does nothing and it is fuck-all expensive. How can it be that the company that raised the most money has only produced this piece of shit after over 1 year? If this is what bitcoiners think about business, we are all fucked. What kind of genius invested $100M+ in 21? Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: brg444 on November 17, 2015, 01:23:41 AM It's all about convenience & the API guys. I can spend my money more wisely rather than spending it on this 21 bitcoin computer Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Also having a hard time seeing real usage cases that would justify the high price tag will be interesting to see what creative ways people will be able to use this which cannot be replicated with cheaper set-ups. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: brg444 on November 17, 2015, 02:07:47 PM If 21 bitcoin computer have more features & services, $399 might be worth it. But, this computer don't have much features, so buy cheaper computer and add few programs will be more worth than buy this computer. No idea why would people buy this bitcoin computer, expect they really don't want to set their own bitcoin computer. Convenience, early API access. People pay for Netflix although they could very well set up an XBMC box or other torrent download set up. Don't underestimate the value of convenience ;) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8863 Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Mickeyb on November 17, 2015, 02:07:55 PM I heard there starting to ship. Anybody getting one and what are you planning on using it for? What for? If you have $400 to waste go ahead! If you need this thing just to run a full node you might as well get a raspberry pi and buy another bitcoin on the side as an investment! Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Raimonn on November 17, 2015, 03:20:46 PM I like that the 21bitcoin computer could be used as a bitcoin node. But i don't like it to be used as a miner it has a very low hash and its very expensive. I'm waiting to read reviews from users that bought it before decide to buy it or not.
Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: BillyBobZorton on November 17, 2015, 04:07:05 PM If 21 bitcoin computer have more features & services, $399 might be worth it. I think this product is not aimed at the average joe, this is aimed at pretty well off people that is knowledgeable on Bitcoin. The idea of spending 400 on it when you could buy 1,198 BTC for the same price and hold long term and probably retire in a decade or two seems more attractive. But, this computer don't have much features, so buy cheaper computer and add few programs will be more worth than buy this computer. I want to get one, but it is still very expensive at this point. not to mention that there is still very few apps that are working through it right now. I'll wait down a few months and then, after I see that many more apps have been developed to run on it and the price has lowered I'll probably send for one! Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: JeWay on November 17, 2015, 09:08:07 PM It's looking good but the price isn't comparable, better buy PS4 ;D
By The Way, it says Quote includes a 128 GB SD card loaded with a full copy of the Blockchain 128GB? The Blockchain size is increasingly enlarged right? Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: RawDog on November 17, 2015, 09:17:24 PM I think this product is not aimed at the average joe, It is however perfectly suitable for the average moron. What kind of genius invested $100M+ in 21? Haha, clever comments, although Apple failed miserably with Lisa and other early versions of their first Apple computer. Unfortunately for 21, a story like Apple's is one in a million. So what is this computer supposed to do (where am I from, the 1980s?) Seriously, can anyone just list the benefits of this particular computer? Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Envrin on November 18, 2015, 05:16:45 AM The software definitely has use, did you even read about it or are you pretending it is a node + mining chip and that is it? I'm pretending it's a useless piece of junk, because that's exactly what it is. :) Here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_documentation There's your "dev kit". :) No need for special hardware. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Envrin on November 18, 2015, 05:26:49 AM What great software? The CLI with a Python 3 library?
That's called Electrum. You can get that for free here -- https://electrum.org/ This is nothing more than a marketing gimmick, Even their Amazon page screams, "I believe I'm awesome at copy write and sales pages". Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: RawDog on November 18, 2015, 05:38:33 AM I'm pretending it's a useless piece of junk, because that's exactly what it is. :) Very dumb people who think they are investing in Bitcoin might buy one to impress their friends. Let's face it, most bitcoin scams are quite a bit more convincing than this one. This one is widely known as total bullshit. How on earth did 21 convince people to give them $21 million. I'd give a bitcoin to watch the video of that pitch. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Kakmakr on November 18, 2015, 05:44:47 AM It is a over priced Geek magnet and "Out of the box" option for lazy people. I would much rather invest in a Raspberry PI 2 than buy this. That said, it is their first attempt at this and it might just fit a niche market. The marketing seems to be focused at the Developer angle.
I would have wanted to see something targeted at the normal consumer and making some sort of profit. ::) Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Small on November 18, 2015, 10:06:58 AM In a practical point of view, it's better to get a raspberry pi instead of this overpriced thing. The amount generated from the mining chip wouldn't even justify the use of buying such a thing. It's much better to just exchange a few dollars for Bitcoin and use it for development cost. Or just use testnet.

You need to chill out, crawl back into the troll cave you came from and retire on the money you are getting to shill Bitcoin. While you at it, get some sleep too, because it's affecting your brain. If RawDog is against something, you should know it's a huge threat for his masters. So go on and buy what you want... most people buy worthless shit anyways and it generates no income at all. ??? And let's be honest, if they have priced it lower, let's say about $200, there would be many people that would have bought it just to impress their friends. It isn't an investment, it has no chance of ROI it is a hobby item or a dev kit.Who knows, maybe in a lot of years it becomes some sort of bizarre collectible item and you can re-sell it on eBay for thousands of dollars. I just recently saw a Sound Blaster sound card which I used to have on my computer as a kid on ebay going for a lot of money because some people like the vintage stuff. Title: Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? Post by: Erkallys on November 18, 2015, 06:50:34 PM I find that 399$ for a modded Raspberry Pi 2 is way too much. Except if the miner can have at least a 350 Gh/s chip, it has no value for someone that isn't looking for Bictoin integration. Also mind that even if it could have a 350 Gh/s chip, it would still be really expensive.
