Nobel Committee Shuts Down Bitcoin Award Rumor

"Since UCLA Professor of Finance Bhagwan Chowdhry suggested nominating supposed Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto for the 2016 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences, a lot of questions have come up. Namely, whether the Nobel Committee could award the prize to someone who might not even exist.

It looks like the answer is no.

“The prize, as in this instance, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Science in Memory of Alfred Nobel, is never awarded anonymously nor posthumously.”

Too many economics academics would look silly if he won too. You know how much academics like looking foolish.

Nobel just got that much less relevant

Also the question arises: is it fair to assume Satoshi the only Bitcoin Creator? In the end, Satoshi himself noted that the idea of creating Bitcoin belongs not to him alone ...  :-\

Isn't the committee that selects the nobel prize winner filled with academics too?
They definitely won't be comfortable giving it to him.
